The overall design style of A7M3 is completely close to the new generation A7RM3, and the design is very professional. Just like A7RM3, this A7M3 also adds a speed control lever. This is undoubtedly more convenient and efficient than the arrow keys in the past when we choose the right focus.
At the top of the fuselage of A7M3, there is only one mode dial. At this point, A7 series and flagship A9 are still different.

According to the actual test results, the overall resolution of Sony A7M3 is slightly improved compared with the previous generation, although the pixels are slightly decreased. The author speculates that this should be related to the improvement of sensor technology and processor. Overall, the high-quality performance of Sony A7M3 basically meets our expectations. Although there is no accident, in the current full-frame camera camp, it can still stand firmly in the leading echelon.

We still use the standard scene of IT 168 evaluation room to test the camera's tolerance. Put the camera on a tripod, ISO 100, aperture F8, fixed white balance, turn off all internal noise reduction optimization, and use lossless RAW format. Manual exposure takes underexposed file 2, underexposed file 1, normal exposure, overexposed file 1 and overexposed file 2 for shooting, and then it is adjusted to normal exposure through Sony's official editing application. From the results, Sony A7M3 can be adjusted back to normal exposure through post-processing when the exposure is less than 2 files, underexposed 1 file and overexposed 1 file.
There is no obvious difference between the details and colors of the picture and the photos exposed normally. If you have to be picky, there is a faint noise in the second gear, which is a pity.
When the photo is overexposed for 2 files, the color of the adjusted picture cannot be damaged. But objectively speaking, the degree of loss is acceptable. Moreover, from the actual picture perception, it seems that the people on the right side of the picture have not been greatly affected, and the photo still has high usability.
To sum up, from the measured results, the latitude performance of Sony A7M3 should belong to the top level in the current 135 full-frame camera. For beginners, even if they make mistakes in the early stage, they can get the correct exposure back by adjusting later. For experts, the tolerance of A7M3 should also have enough space for them to play in landscape photography.
Practical evaluation of Sony A7M3 focusing with strong eye control in sports.
As Sony's latest Quan Huafu micro-single, the focusing system of Sony A7M3 should be said to come from A9 in general, but it is different from A9 in specific details. Sony A7M3 uses the same 693 phase focusing point as A9, and the coverage rate of focusing point is 93%, while the number of contrast focusing points has been upgraded from A9' s 25 to 425. Simply from the focus configuration, A7M3 does go further than A9.
However, the number of focus points in the book is only part of the configuration. This time, the author filmed the match between Beijing and Liaoning in the CBA playoffs. The professional basketball game is an excellent test center to test the camera's focusing, photometry and high sensitivity because of the fierce confrontation and the rapid movement of athletes.

Before shooting sports games, you should set up and confirm the camera. For example, the image format is set to JPEG ultra-fine, the driving mode is ultra-high speed continuous shooting, the focusing mode is AF-C, the focusing area is wide, and there are many metering modes.

On the one hand, A7M3 has the same large focus range as A9. Almost everything you can see in the viewfinder can be covered by the focus of A7M3.
In response speed, A7M3 and A9 are almost identical. Half-pressing the shutter is driven in place immediately, and the whole process is almost instantaneous. Seeing the small green box (focus) moving with the athletes' movements does have a sense of controlled pleasure.
Looking back at the photos taken, the final focusing success rate of A7M3 is also excellent. Of the more than 700 photos taken by/kloc-0, only about 10 is not in full focus, and most of the photos are in focus enough to easily count hairs. This, of course, benefits from the fact that the micro camera has a phase and contrast focusing mode, and the focusing is fast and accurate.
Other aspects, such as viewfinder response speed, photometry and white balance performance, A7M3 has also done well. It is worth mentioning that Sony A7M3 really surprised the author in its endurance performance.
Without replacing the battery and using the charging treasure, when the whole game is coming to an end, the power of Sony A7M3 remains at 56%! I cann't believe I haven't used up half a battery yet It seems that our inherent impression that the life of micro-cameras is not enough is really going to change.
To sum up, in the actual test, Sony A7M3 has shown a very high level in focusing, metering and white balance. It can be said that A7M3 is highly available for shooting sports themes.
In addition, in some details, such as high-speed viewfinder and unexpected endurance performance, A7M3 also gives the author a brand-new experience different from the past, and its comprehensive performance is worthy of recognition.
Second, easy-to-use eye control focusing.
As a main function of micro-menu, eye-controlled focusing has been further upgraded on A7M3. When using A7M3 continuous focusing (AF-C), we can also use this function, which can only be used in AF-S single focusing on previous models.
When using the eye control focusing function of Sony A7M3, the camera will automatically select the eyes of the model closer to the lens for focusing. This function seems insignificant, but it can be said that it is a manifestation of camera intelligence.
In the past, portrait photographers had to manually adjust the focal length between the eyes of the model to ensure that the eye closer to the model was clearly focused (students who don't know why the eye closer should consciously face the wall).
After using A7M3, this simple and repetitive work in portrait photography can be safely given to the camera's eye control focusing, leaving the photographer more time and energy to play.

In terms of video specifications, Sony A7M3 not only supports 6K full format reading and outputting oversampled 4K video, but also supports S-log. From the specification point of view, Sony A7M3 should be the strongest micro-single in Quan Huafu at present.

Let's look at oversampling first. The oversampling in the video is actually equivalent to the thumbnails in our photos. Calculate information with high pixels to generate pictures with low pixels, thus obtaining better image quality. This point on A7M3 should be said to be immediate. The following is a 100% enlarged slice of the central part of the picture, which was shot with A7M3 and ISO6400 respectively.

It can be seen that, also under ISO6400, by using the full-frame oversampling technology, the image noise that is already obvious in high-pixel photos almost disappears in 4K video. After using S-Log, the picture taken by A7M3 will be darker and grayer than the picture taken by us. Although the intuitive feeling at this time is not as good as usual, it can better preserve the details of the dark and bright parts of the picture. For later professionals, this will leave more creative space. Through professional post-color-matching pictures, of course, better visual effects can be achieved than conventional shooting.
