The filming of Journey to the West, Yang Jie's cameo as a demon, the Monkey King's battle with six-year-old children, what else?
Some readers disagree. Obviously, these two monsters, King Jinjiao and King Yinjiao, both wanted to eat the Tang monk's meat. They almost killed the Monkey King in a gourd. Isn't this do or die?
In fact, The Lost Lotus Cave is positioned by The Journey to the West as a very interesting children's drama. One of the reasons is the true identity of the two monsters. After all, their gods are children who burn fire, but they are still naive. Therefore, King Jinjiao and King Yinjiao listen to their names as if they are playing house, and their daily lives are noisy. The whole two are funnier than monsters.
Besides, since the two children who set the fire were both from the old gentleman, it is very likely that they were deliberately sent by the above to test the Tang Priest and his disciples. Even if they really want to eat golden cicadas, the old man can't agree. So this episode has the support of the old man. In any case, it is impossible to make a moth. At best, it is a small farce.
However, for the The Journey to the West crew, this episode is not easy. Due to the shortage of funds, this episode uses a lot of physical body double, which is the most physical episode of body double in Journey to the West, and there are naturally many interesting things in it.
First of all, the shooting location
The Lost Lotus Cave was shot in April and May in Yunnan Shilin 1985, and almost all of it was shot in Shilin. There is no other location, but it is economical.
As can be seen from the scenery behind the Tang Priest and his disciples, after they came out of Baoxiang, it was like returning to Huang Paoguai.
The Monkey King's clothes are also a continuation of the last episode, and the change of monkey's clothes is also an important symbol to judge the actual shooting order of Journey to the West.
Second, the main actors
Of course, the four masters and apprentices can't move, but there are few scenes of Tang Priest and Friar Sand in this episode, and Pig doesn't go much. None of these three mentoring scenes is necessarily more than the worm and the clever ghost.
Lotus Cave is more like the Monkey King's one-man show. In this episode, he has three names: monkey, monkey, and monkey.
There are three other images of the Monkey King. Besides the Monkey King, he has become a nine-tailed fox, a Taoist priest and a little demon. The six-year-old child is addicted to drama and has changed his clothes.
The two main actors of the villain are not so good. Che Xiaotong, who plays the King of Jinjiao, belongs to the General Political and Art Troupe. Later, he also had a classic role, the teacher in "Bright Sword". Che Xiaotong's ex-wife is a famous actor Wang Liyun, and his daughter is also a famous actor Che Xiao.
Guo Shouyang of China Youth Theatre plays the King of Silver Horn. He is a drama actor who once played Guo Tu, Yuan Shao's counselor, in The Romance of the Three Kingdoms. He left a classic line in this episode: "I'll call you, do you dare to promise?"
As for the makeup of King Jinjiao and King Yinjiao, it's a bit miserable. King Jinjiao's face was painted with copper paint to brush bicycles, while King Yinjiao's face was painted with silver paint to brush radiators. The taste can be imagined.
Third, the episode with the most stuntmen.
When filming the Lost Lotus Cave, the crew of Journey to the West began to be short of money. After all, the first few episodes are too expensive to elaborate, so Lost Lotus Cave can only cut back on expenses.
For example, the scene in which the Silver Horn King arrested the Tang Priest and Friar Sand was useless at all. Instead, the method of moving the scene was adopted, and the actors did not move, and the stones around them were moved to the car and pulled back. This action is now carried forward by many crews.
This episode was not only filmed in one place, but also the actors were very economical. In addition to being forced to change people, there are fewer people who can use it, and almost all of them who can use body double use body double.
Ma Dehua also played a mountain god. His facial features are so obvious that everyone recognized him as soon as he appeared. Isn't this a pig?
Nezha's original actress is Ai Jinmei, an actress of Jiangsu Peking Opera Theatre. Nezha, who happened to appear in this episode, will never invite anyone from Nanjing to Yunnan again, so Yang Bin, the cast member, made a guest appearance. After all, Yang Bin is a real actor of Mubi, and it makes sense for the two brothers to help each other.
For the same reason, the cast in Yunnan couldn't bear to spend money to borrow Zheng Rong, the pillar of human body art, and the two children Summer Xu and Zhang Limei around the old man.
As a result, Huaili Yan made a guest appearance as an old gentleman, and the similarity after makeup was still very high.
Hu Meiling, the accountant of the crew, made a guest appearance, playing the role of the Taoist priest in red, the king of Jinjiao, first played by Summer Xu.
Another Taoist girl couldn't find the right person, so the crew had to find a little actor to make up the film after returning to Beijing, and then use technical means to embed it in the stone forest background.
In the last scene of this episode, Zheng Rong's version of "Old Gentleman on the Top" still appears, but it must have been shot in Beijing.
The most magical scene in this episode of body double is that the Monkey King taps the nine-tailed fox, and the nine-tailed fox is of course played by a six-year-old boy himself.
In order to save shooting time, the crew did not let the six-year-old children play the Monkey King and the nine-tailed fox in the same scene, but let the deputy directors Ren Fengpo and Huang Paoguai make guest appearances in the Monkey King.
Then, we saw a "weird" scene. A six-year-old child was fighting with the Monkey King, and the six-year-old child was killed by the Monkey King! That's great.
Fourth, failed aerial photography.
Although the The Journey to the West crew has been short of money, they have tried a "high-tech" aerial photography.
Because there are many high-altitude shots in Journey to the West, aerial photography is of course the best way to show these shots, but unfortunately the conditions and funds did not allow it at that time.
When I was in Yunnan, the The Journey to the West crew finally got a chance. They got in touch with a plane spraying pesticides, so the cameraman Wang Chongqiu was tied to the cabin door for a new aerial photography experience.
The design of the aerial camera lens is like this. King Jinjiao and King Yinjiao chased Tang Priest and his disciples on the mountain with a bunch of little demons. If it can be made into a movie, it will be a classic with the stone forest as the background.
In order to make the camera more perfect, director Yang Jie asked everyone in the crew except the four apprentices to wear goblin clothes, including herself.
At the beginning of aerial photography, the crew on the ground shouted start as soon as they heard the sound of the plane, and then the whole crew ran wildly all over the mountain. I held my breath when the plane flew away. When the plane came back, I ran like crazy and ran back and forth several times. The whole crew was exhausted, but for this first aerial photography, everyone felt tired and worthwhile.
Unfortunately, it rained on the day of aerial photography, and the clouds were very low, so the plane could not fly too low. Coupled with equipment and other reasons, Yang Jie did not take any pictures of their crazy running, which became a great regret for the crew.
In the process of running wildly, Guo Shouyang, the king of the Silver Horn, sprained his ankle and injured his six-year-old child, so the crew added two more body double. The crew members Tong and Cui went to body double and dreamt of the Silver Horn King, while Xu returned to body double and the Monkey King.
It is worth mentioning that this aerial photography is not without a lens. In the episode "The Monkey King Begins to Live in the Rooster", the only achievement of this aerial photography is that the clairvoyant looks down at the stone monkey in the sky.
Finally, let's talk about what the goblin directed by Yang Jie is like. Although the aerial photography has not been done, we still have a reference target.
Probably Qi is the appearance of those little demons around Yinjiao Wang.
