Derived model of A-3 attack aircraft

A3D- 1/A-3A

Ya3d-1(Buno130352) is a mass-produced prototype, with two J57-P- 1 engines installed, and the electronic cabin at the top of the XA3D- 1 vertical tail is cancelled. Westinghouse's tail turret was installed in the factory and was later dismantled after being delivered to the Naval Missile Center for various tests. After the three armies unified the numbering rules, the numbering of YA3D- 1 was changed to YA-3A.

A3D- 1 is the first production type of "Air Warrior". * * * made 49 planes. After unified numbering in September, 1962 was renamed as A-3A. The aircraft is equipped with two J57-P- 1, P-6A or P-6B engines, with a thrust of 4536kg, and 12 booster rockets of Aerojet Company can be installed on both sides of the rear fuselage, with a single-tube thrust of 204 1kg, which can make the A-3A take off without ejection and with full load on the Essex-class aircraft carrier.

A3D-2/3B

The second production type of "Air Warrior" is A3D-2, and the serial number 1962 is changed to A-3B.

EA-3B/EKA-3B are both improved electronic countermeasures of A-3B, but their production backgrounds are different. EA-3B originated from the A3D-2Q prototype which successfully made its first flight in February 1958. ECM electronic countermeasures were installed at the top of the vertical tail and the belly bomb bay, and a total of 24 aircraft were produced. EKA-3B is 39 KA-3B aerial tankers, originally budgeted for fiscal year 1967, and now it has been modified into TACOS model, which has comprehensive performance of electronic countermeasures, aerial refueling and attack aircraft. The power generation capacity in the aircraft is extremely strong, and there are easily recognizable fairings on both sides of the rear section of the aircraft.

RA-3B(A3D-2P) photographic reconnaissance attack aircraft, its prototype made its first flight on July 22nd, 1958, and its fuselage structure was also modified. A compression chamber which can accommodate 12 cameras was added in the front of the bomb bay, and a total of 30 aircraft were produced.

TA-3B(A3D-2T) is a bomber/pilot trainer aircraft, which made its first flight on August 29th. 1959. It mainly trains bomber pilots. The crew of the ship is a driver, 1 instructor and 6 trainees, and the production capacity is only 12.
