Miyun Reservoir is a famous wetland lake scenic spot in Beijing.

Miyun reservoir is located in the north of Miyun county 13km, between Yanshan mountains and across Chaohe River and Baihe River. The reservoir is the largest artificial lake in Asia and is known as the "Pearl of Yanshan Mountain". The reservoir covers an area of 336,000 mu, with a storage capacity of 4.38 billion cubic meters and the deepest part of more than 60 meters. It is the main source of urban and industrial water in Beijing. The average temperature in summer in the reservoir area is 3℃ lower than that in the urban area, so it is a summer resort.

Miyun Reservoir was built in September 1958-1960. Its main buildings are Baihe main dam (66m high and 1 100m long), Chaohe main dam (56m high and 960m long), five auxiliary dams, two water conveyance tunnels and three large dams. The total reservoir area is 1.88 million square kilometers, the water surface is 1.37 million mu, and the water depth is 40 to 60 meters. It is divided into three reservoir areas: Baihe, Chaohe and Neihu, with a total storage capacity of 43 17 billion cubic meters, which is equivalent to 67 Ming Tombs reservoirs or/kloc-0.50 Kunming Lake and 65,438 roads around the lake.
