The 69-year-old uncle spent 10 years building 8 acres of wasteland into "the most beautiful manor in China". How did he do it?
It is Sanshu Manor in Putang, Maanshan, which is known as the most beautiful private manor in China. Because there are three hundred-year-old trees in the yard, it is called Sanshu Manor. The most beautiful private manor in China was transformed from 8 acres of wasteland by 69-year-old Zhang Taibei in 10, and its appearance also amazed the world.
Garden seeds planted in my heart
Zhang Taibei, a native of Wuhu, loves photography and nature. I have traveled back and forth between scenic spots and mountains and rivers in China countless times, just to photograph picturesque mountains and rivers.
There is a big garden where Zhang Taibei lived since childhood, which was taken care of by his grandfather. As long as he can remember, he has been playing in that garden all day, so he planted a garden seed in his heart. Over the years, Zhang Taibei has never forgotten the seeds in his heart and has been quietly preparing.
Rent forest land and start renovation.
In 2002, Zhang Taibei came to Maanshan and found a piece of wasteland he liked in the eastern suburb of Maanshan City, Anhui Province, more than 20 kilometers away. This wasteland covers an area of 8 mu. According to him, when he came to see the garden, he saw three big trees behind him, called Holly. The finished products of the three trees are arranged in a zigzag pattern, and the coverage area of these trees alone adds up to two acres of land, all of which are over 100 years old. Later, the manor was named after the "Three Trees" and has been in use ever since.
Zhang Taibei thought that this place was the place where he could plant the seed garden in his heart. He decided to inquire about the owner of the land immediately and signed a 50-year lease contract with him. Zhang Taibei, who signed the land, began to build his dream garden.
In order to better transform, Zhang Taibei walked around that field when he had nothing to do, and he would pay attention to every road, every tree and every abandoned house. He found that the original houses on the wasteland had an area of about 1000m2, but they were all overgrown with weeds and dilapidated, and the original fish pond became a stinky pond. From west to east, the height of the garden is almost 15 meters. After carefully inspecting this wasteland, Zhang Taibei began to build his blueprint.
"I am the owner of my garden", this is Zhang Taibei's answer to the question why he should design it himself in an interview. He admitted that he didn't like what others designed for him, and it was his childhood dream to build his own dream garden. He doesn't want to rely on others to fulfill his dream. So he didn't look for architects and designers, and everything was transformed according to his mind.
Transform the garden
After ten months of exploration, Zhang designed the blueprint of Taipei. He decided to adopt the European style in the garden, reinforced, reconstructed and decorated the original building, and built a five-story garden with a height difference of almost15m from west to east.
It took Zhang Taibei eight years to complete the foundation reconstruction. During these eight years, he has not been idle for a moment, and all the construction, layout and decoration are done by himself. As he said, he must transform himself to become his dream garden. In order to achieve the ultimate goal, Zhang Taibei personally went to the mine to dig ore and lay a 5-meter-wide tunnel.
In order to make the garden spring all the year round, he also spent money to cultivate more than 1000 kinds of exotic flowers and herbs, such as banana, money pine and flower oil. He even built a greenhouse to make the flowers bloom for the second time all the year round. The renovation of the manor took about 10 years. Looking around, it looks like a European manor painting. Whether it is bonsai, sculpture or architecture, it is full of noble and elegant royal architectural atmosphere.
Five-story garden
Using this terrain, Zhang built a five-story garden in Taipei. There are two lawns on the left and right sides of the first floor, with a 5-meter-wide tunnel in the middle.
Upstairs, the second floor is a main lawn. This lawn is a favorite place in Taipei. No one is allowed to go here except Zhang Taipei's little granddaughter. Around the lawn, a big fish pond with black swans was developed. Further up is the third floor, where there is a koi fish fish pond, a waterfall and some fountains.
Further up, it is the fourth floor where the three trees are located. Besides these three trees, there are many flowers and plants, from tropical to temperate. Bougainvillea has been in the yard for 16 years. It was brought back from Yunnan by Zhang Taibei for more than 90 years, with a height of about 15 cm.
The iconic plants of the three trees are two purple enchantresses growing in a big greenhouse. Because Zhang likes blue flowers, he planted many Lan Xue, sage and lavender in his garden. These flowers not only look elegant, but also smell delicious. Hydrangea is a star in summer. Zhang Taibei planted about three or four hundred hydrangeas in the yard. There are five peacocks in the yard. In the morning, gloating is a beautiful scenery.
There is a big dining table under three trees. When friends and relatives came, they laid tablecloths, inserted wild flowers and lit candles, and a very grand sense of ceremony came out. Barbecue, singing and chatting under three trees have a unique flavor.
The fifth floor is a large bamboo forest, towering tall and upright, indomitable spirit, regardless of spring, summer, autumn and winter, evergreen all year round. From a distance, the whole manor is in the bamboo forest, which is very quiet, giving people a feeling of seclusion in the mountains.
The whole Sanshuyuan has four distinct seasons. In spring, you can watch the buds emerge from the branches; In summer, the scene is warm; In autumn, gold is the main factor; In winter, it is ice and snow.
opening up to the outside world
After 10 years of efforts, the original ruins were reborn in the hands of Zhang Taibei. It can be said that every brick, stone, grass and tree of Sanshu Manor embodies Zhang Taibei's painstaking efforts and sweat. At first, Zhang Taibei just wanted to build his dream garden. What he didn't expect was that the original wasteland gradually became beautiful in his hands. Not only won the only gold medal in the second national private garden competition, but also was selected as the most beautiful private garden in China, which surprised the world.
Today's Sanshu Manor has become the spiritual home of Zhang Taipei. But Zhang Taibei doesn't want to monopolize this beauty and is willing to share it with others. On April 20 16, Sanshu Manor officially opened, and many newcomers would come here to take wedding photos and hold weddings, so Zhang Taibei got a certain fee. Later, in order to meet the needs of customers, Zhang Taibei spent money to open cafes and swimming pools. Today, Sanshu Manor is also full of human feelings.
Zhang Taibei, a seemingly ordinary uncle, has beautiful poems and distant places.
