What is high dynamic range photography?

In photography, dynamic range refers to the brightness range of the subject-the brightness span from the darkest point to the brightest point in the subject. In photography, we often use the difference to quantify the dynamic range. As we know, EVery time the exposure is doubled or halved, it is called 1EV (exposure value). The exposure meter can measure the brightness of this area as nEV, and the dynamic range can be expressed by the difference of EV between the highest brightness area and the lowest brightness area in the scene. For example, "In order to take soft portrait photos, we can light the scene or control its dynamic range within 3EV with props", that is to say, after lighting, the luminosity values of the brightest (probably white clothes) and darkest (often hair) areas in the picture will not exceed 3EV.
