He has served as a photographer in regiments, divisions, armies and military regions, director of the Cultural Department of the Propaganda Department of the Military Region, president of the People's Liberation Army photo agency, and director of the editorial department of the People's Liberation Army Pictorial. 1985 to 1987, participated in the Vietnam War in Laoshan, Yunnan. He once took part in the assault shooting action with the first commando team and served as a battlefield photographer.
