How are American films rated?

The classification system for film and television works formulated by the Motion Picture Association of America is as follows:

Grade G: (Suitable for general audience of all ages. ) mass class, suitable for all ages, suitable for all ages Parents can accept the content of such movies, and there are no nudity, sex scenes, drug abuse and violence scenes. Dialogue is also a frequent contact in daily life;

PG: (Parents' guidance suggests that some content may not be suitable for children. ) average level, it is recommended to watch it with parents, and some scenes may be uncomfortable. Counseling level, some content may not be suitable for children to watch-there are basically no pornographic, drug-taking and naked scenes in this level of movies, and even if there is time, the scenes of terror and violence will not exceed the moderate range;

Pg-/kloc-Grade 0/3: (Parents strongly criticize that some materials may be for children under 13. ) Ordinary grade, but not suitable for children under 13. Special guidance level,/kloc-children under 0/3 need to be accompanied by their parents, and some of the content is not suitable for children to watch-this level of movies has no violent and persistent scenes, generally no nude scenes, and sometimes they will recall drug abuse scenes and swearing words;

Grade R: (limited to 17, parents or adult guardians need to be accommodated. ) Restricted level, below 17, must be accompanied by parents or guardians. Restricted level, below 17, the audience asks their parents or admits to being accompanied-this level of movies contains adult content, which contains more pornography, violence, drug abuse and so on.

Grade NC- 17: (17 and below are not allowed to enter) 17 and below are not allowed to watch. /kloc-It is forbidden for viewers under 0/7 years old-this movie is classified as an adult video, and it is strictly forbidden for minors to watch it. There are clear sexual scenes, a lot of drug abuse or violence scenes and swearing words in the film.

In addition, several special grades have been added:

NR or U: NR belongs to unrated movies, and U is the movie rating before 1968.

M, X or P: Movies at this level are basically not suitable for big theaters, and they are all restricted.
