Why do Indians have a higher happiness index than China?

When the economy impacts the world's history and culture for thousands of years with unstoppable momentum, we will find that many rules have been modified or even subverted by the economy. "Money worship" and "hedonism" are gradually moving from the periphery to the mainstream, even dominating the world. Can we draw such an equivalent formula that money (material wealth) = happiness?

I have seen a survey on happiness before, which shows that 90% Indians are unwilling to settle abroad, and the pride of spiritual heritage and the expectation of economic development are the main reasons why they are willing to stay in China; However, in China, 64% of people replied that they would like to go abroad, and 38% said that living in China lacked dignity. Now I have come to India and found that happiness is everywhere in this country which is not rich or even lacking in materials. The happiness index of Indians is far beyond my imagination.

I didn't come to India to take photos as an official or a business person. There is no need to whitewash India, and there is no need to cover up their joys and sorrows. Therefore, I have more opportunities to go deep into rural areas, family education institutions and other grass-roots units and get to know their real life, including their happiness.

It is no exaggeration to say that the traffic in India is lively and chaotic. I have walked through Indian cities, big and small, and the traffic conditions are mostly like this: buses, cars, motorcycles, tricycles, carriages and pedestrians are driving on the road at the same time, and there are few traffic lights and few cows walking. However, the traffic is so crowded, but it is very chaotic, and there are few traffic accidents. Even if there is a traffic accident, the parties at most just smile and walk away kindly.

I was also impressed by the schools in India. Indian school uniforms are very stylish, showing the vigor and vitality of students; China's school uniforms are lifeless. In India, the pressure on students is relatively small, and educational institutions pay more attention to shaping students' spiritual realm, mostly instilling how to live a happier life; In China, the pressure of survival and competition has permeated from their parents to their children. In order to get ahead, they should strive for the first place in four aspects: morality, intelligence, physique and beauty, while children lack the vigor and vitality that they should have at that age.

Many people are puzzled by the happy time enjoyed by Indians: Indians are not materially rich, and there are many vagrants or beggars in the streets. Why do they grasp the true meaning of happiness as if they were in heaven?

In reality, India is also a country with a big gap between the rich and the poor, but this does not prevent the poor from living a free and dignified life. Many national policies, such as welfare policies, are often poor; Government officials will not drive the poor out of the city in order to beautify the city without damaging the city appearance. Most rich people don't show off their wealth, but they drive foreign cars and live in foreign houses in front of the poor. Therefore, the poor do not have a strong sense of deprivation, and their hatred for the rich is not serious, so that the poor and the rich can live in harmony.

From the perspective of faith, Indians all have faith. Universal freedom of belief gives Indians dignity and hope for a life of faith. The philosophy of life that Indians follow is freedom and freedom. They believe in reincarnation and hope for the afterlife, so the poor are less jealous of the rich and more free and easy to the world and live happily. Indians live in poverty and pursue happiness in the afterlife, so the happiness index is relatively high.

Although Indian culture has some undesirable things, such as passivity, laxity and lack of etiquette, it has created a paradise for the poor. Compared with Indian material shortage, the leaping development of China's economy has pushed China's material life to a new level again and again. However, in daily life, what we hear most is not "life is happier", but "I'm bored recently" and "I'm not happy at all", which is far from happiness. The main reason is the lack of trust in China people.

After the May 4th Movement and the Cultural Revolution, the old world was broken, but the new order was not established, which led to the blank of value culture. Since the reform and opening up, although we have repeatedly advocated paying equal attention to both material and spiritual development, it seems that China's development is not two-legged: the economy is developing rapidly, but the spiritual and cultural development is relatively lagging behind, leading to the emergence of spiritual crisis. In the era of lack of faith, the interrogation of people's survival value and meaning of life will be more intense and confused, and many people's behaviors lack basic norms. The lack of faith will not only lead to the emergence of a desert of happiness, but also have an unquestionable destructive penetration into the economy. Markets that lack faith and morality are also chaotic. It is very likely that because of the lack of faith, people will fall into the most expensive market economy system and have to pay a higher price to make up for it.

Admittedly, we don't want to let the times go backwards and build a paradise for the poor in China, just like the Indians. Our blueprint is to create a rich paradise. On the basis of material wealth, people's happiness index is very high, and the premise of realizing this blueprint is to rebuild our lost beliefs.
