Photographic curve tool

When it comes to retouching software, you will think of PHOTOSHOP, ACRLIGHTROOM, CAPTUREONE and so on. As a "scalpel" in the hands of photographers, curves are particularly important in the post-production process.

As an important tool for hue and color adjustment, curve is also the most complicated tool in computer drawing, which can adjust the chromaticity, contrast and brightness of the picture.

The horizontal axis of the curve is the brightness of the original image. From left to right, the values are 0 pure black, the middle gray value is 1-254, and the rightmost pure white is the brightest value of 255.

The vertical axis of the curve is the brightness of the target image (after adjustment), which is 0 value pure black in turn, and the brightness value is still 0-255 from bottom to top, and the horizontal axis is from left to right from dark to bright.

2. Black and white field curve

We call the darkest point in the photo a black field and the brightest point a white field. The difference between black and white fields determines the contrast of photos.

3. Contrast curve

Contrast curves are almost called S-shaped curves and anti-S-shaped curves.
