Sketch and photography are more intuitive and vivid records of field geological phenomena. Geological sketch is a combination of plane, section and sketch in painting (Figure 3- 1). It includes: (1) making plane sketch with pattern legend; ② Combination of sketch and geological pattern; ③ Complete the sketch. In the sketch of regional geological structure landscape, the sketch of three-dimensional terrain plus geological symbols or the sketch of combined section is often used. Geological sketch must highlight the theme, choose properly, respect reality and have concise lines.

Geological photography has obvious tone contrast of geological body, and the effect is better when the terrain contrast is strong. In most cases, it needs to be supplemented by sketches. When shooting, the number, shooting location, shooting orientation and shooting object should be indicated in the record book, and the technical parameters of photography should be recorded.
