How do novice photographers take perfect portrait photos?
1. Make a plan
Please take some sketches or sketches before you take the camera. This will keep you in mind during the filming.
2. Background
The solid background in the studio will ensure that the subject is in focus, and it will be easier to separate if you need to create a composition.
Gray is a good color because it is very suitable for most situations. If you need a shallow composition, you can also shoot on a white background; For darker photos, you can also shoot in black.
No matter which background you choose, make sure that the color of the background doesn't match the color of the theme.
3. Light source
If you plan to make a composite image, you must use the same light source to photograph all the objects/people on it.
Before pressing the shutter button of the camera, please consider the position of the object and the angle at which the light shines on him. Maybe you need lighting above or below?
The type and color of lighting are also worth considering. We will discuss this in the next step.
4. Natural lighting: prime time
Everyone can use natural lighting, and the time of day varies greatly with the weather.
If you rely on natural light, the best shooting time is the so-called prime time. This is the last hour before sunset, when the sun is close to the horizon.
5. Natural light: strong light
At noon, when the sun's rays are almost perpendicular to the ground, hard shadows will form, especially under the eyes and chin. If you have to shoot at this time of day, please put the subject in the shadow or use a mirror to scatter some light and soften the shadow.
In addition, you can try to use mesh curtains to scatter light and shoot indoors near the window. However, you can use strong light to capture the texture.
6. Artificial light
If you can't choose natural light, you can always create it yourself. Light sources, such as lamps, can help people illuminate the area well and may always be accessible.
7. camera
To get the best effect, you can't do without a digital SLR camera and a compact mirrorless camera with detachable lens. Both types have full control over the settings. How to deal with them correctly-please read the following paragraphs.
There are many cameras with different prices to choose from, so you can always find the best model.
8. Correct lens
In some cases, it seems too simple, but it will be good to look back. The lens is an important part of the camera, so you should choose it wisely. Each lens has its own focal length, ranging from wide angle (14 mm) to telephoto (200-400 mm).
If you just want to try in the field of photography and want something cheaper, simpler and better than a whale camera, 50 mm is the best choice in most cases.
The next step is to spend 85mm/ 135mm to shoot portraits and details, and 35mm to shoot landscapes.
9. Original shooting
If you use DSLR or mirrorless, please make sure to shoot in RAW (not JPEG).
This will allow the camera to take and process images without compression, thus providing more space for you to process in Lightroom or Photoshop in case you need to correct the exposure.

If you shoot with DLSR or compact mirrorless camera, you can get a very flexible choice to control the sensitivity of the sensor through ISO control.
The higher the indicator, the more noise appears in the picture, so try to set ISO to the lowest acceptable mark. The following are examples of indicators in different situations.
It is sunny outside: 100-200
It's cloudy outside: 400
In a well-lit room: 800- 1000
In a dark room: 1600-2000
1 1. Depth of field
Aperture can not only adjust the size of the aperture, but also determine the number of frames in focus according to the distance.
If you want the focus to be clear from the foreground to the background, please shoot with a value of f/8 or higher. Otherwise, if you need a vague background and a sense of depth, please try to use a value around f/ 1.8.
12. High-speed shooting
When you need to "snap" a moment, a slow shutter (1/200 s or lower) is very good, while a slow shutter (1 s or higher) will help convey the sense of motion or produce a slow-motion effect.
When using a low-speed shutter, be sure to carry a tripod with you and release the shutter to prevent camera shake.
13. Different options
After you get the picture you need, take a few more frames and change the data. The main difficulty lies in the formula, so when everything is ready, please try to take photos from different angles and change the settings and lighting style. If it takes a lot of time to build a framework, this method can save a lot of time in the future.
14. Harmonious colors
If conditions are limited, other light sources must be used, and color correction may be needed to make the image look harmonious.
This can be done by using these tools in Adobe Camera Raw or Lightroom of the white balance module. Or you can take courses.
15. Cut the background correctly
After the release of Adobe Photoshop CC 20 15.5, it becomes easier to cut the background.
