Who is the Chinese actor in Pirates of the Caribbean 3?

The Chinese actor in Pirates of the Caribbean 3 is Chow Yun-fat, who plays Sao Feng.

Sao Feng is a legendary Chinese pirate, known to the world as the Pirate King of Singapore and the Whip of the South China Sea. As a ruthless captain, Sao Feng sits in the Singapore Bathhouse and controls the sea lanes here. He has an army of Chinese pirates under his command, and a large number of junk ships follow his flagship Queen.

During the time when he was the Pirate King, Sao Feng stored the Mao Kun map in his hand that could guide people to the Far Gate in his uncle's ancestral hall.

A group of people, led by the pirate king Hector Barbossa, came for the sea map. They visited the bathhouse in Singapore, and Will Turner was responsible for stealing the map secretly.

Had it not been for the premature appearance of soldiers from the East India Trading Company led by Mather, the two groups almost fought. Near the end of the battle, Sao Feng allowed Barbossa's crew to take one of his ships and charts to Davy Jones's prison to rescue Jack Sparrow and the Black Pearl, while also trading with the East Indies. The company reached an agreement, but it was later thwarted by Lord Cutler Beckett.

So he returned to the pirates and agreed to participate in the pirate conference to fight against Beckett. As a result, the Flying Dutchman broke out halfway and was hit by a cannonball and died during the battle.

The character is played by Chow Yun-fat in the movie.

Behind the scenes

In The World's End, Sao Feng is played by Chow Yun-fat. Paul Nakauchi is responsible for the voice acting in the World's End video game.

This character is mainly based on the legendary pirate Cheung Po Tsai from Guangdong, China.

On the boat, Xiao Feng recites (in Cantonese) the first four lines of Li Bai's "Moon Over the Mountains," a poem from the Complete Tang Poetry.

For some reason, the Pirate's Guide book shows the historical Edward Rowe's flag (a red skeleton on a black background) as Sao Feng's flag.

In At World's End and other similar works, Sao Feng's head is bald. However, in the Nintendo DS version of World's End video game and on the cover of Legends of the Pirate Guild: Rise of the East, Sao Feng has long flowing hair.
