What does the shift lens effect mode in the camera mean? How to operate? thank you

Axis-shifting lens is a special lens in Canon EF lens that can realize tilt angle and offset function. The so-called TS-E in the lens name is tilt, shift and electromagnetism.

Initial combination of aperture (electromagnetically driven aperture). Use the tilt angle and offset function to rotate the lens to various angles and positions, which can move the focal plane or compensate the shape of the object. It is very common for large-format film cameras to take shift-axis photography by changing the position relationship between the optical axis of the lens and the imaging plane, and the shift-axis lens that can be realized on a 35mm-format camera can be said to be a special lens for professional photographers. However, due to the recent expansion of the real-time display shooting function, it is easier to operate the shift lens. As long as you keep in mind its basic principle, you can use it flexibly by constantly trying to operate it, and you can also experience unexpected effects that other lenses can't bring.

Operation method of shifting lens effect mode:

1. Mount the camera on a tripod.

In order to effectively control the focus position, the camera must be firmly fixed on the tripod. Composition is also an important factor, so it is best to use a three-dimensional pan-tilt that can easily adjust the camera angle.

2. Start real-time display shooting.

Because of the need for precise focusing, the real-time display shooting function is used here to prepare for shooting. Compared with the optical viewfinder, real-time display shooting is convenient for observing the details of the picture, and it is very effective to use this function when moving the axis.

3. Use the tilt function to tilt the focal plane.

Using the tilt function of the axis-shifting lens, the lens is tilted to the sky greatly, and only a small part of the picture is in focus. Because the tilt angle is opposite to the main body, this technique is called "anti-axis displacement"

4. Display the focus with 10x magnification, and then release the shutter.

In order to focus more accurately, enlarge the picture by 10 times. Let the focus position be in the most prominent part of the whole picture visually. If it is aimed at people, cars, etc. It is easy to reflect the atmosphere similar to a miniature model, and release the shutter after determining the focus position.

When shooting miniature landscapes, the composition must be carefully adjusted, and the picture must be strictly horizontal and vertical. Select the function setting of real-time display from the menu, and select one suitable for composition from "Grid Line Display". Before the tilting operation, the outline or horizontal line of the building can be used to strictly keep the picture horizontal and vertical. Adjusting the focal plane with tilt function is the key to successful shooting. The sharp blurring before and after the focus position will bring "insecurity", which is the characteristic of this technique. In order to make this effect more obvious, we should be more careful not to tilt the picture than usual shooting.
