When the sun is about to rise or just above the horizon, red, yellow, purple and orange clouds glow everywhere. In sunny weather, when the sun has not fallen below the horizon, sunset clouds often appear. This situation is more common in winter. The shapes of the morning glow and the evening glow are roughly the same, but the morning glow contains a little more purple pigment than the evening glow, and the shooting method is not much different.

How can we better record the beautiful scenery of rosy clouds? Below, let's introduce some suggestions and techniques for shooting rosy clouds.

Basic shooting equipment-tripod

Of course, the camera is the protagonist of shooting equipment, which is beyond doubt, but whether your camera is professional or not, the key is to understand and use it skillfully.

Because there is usually not enough light when rosy clouds appear (whether in the morning or at night), using a tripod can ensure that clear images can be obtained after long exposure.

About setting up

white balance

Because the color temperature of light in rosy clouds is generally lower than that in sunny days, in order to show the warm color of rosy clouds, the white balance can be adjusted to the daylight file, so that the color will be more infectious.

When rosy clouds appear, the color temperature is generally low, but if you want to make rosy clouds redder or yellower, you can set the color temperature of the camera slightly higher than the outside color temperature to achieve the effect, and it is also convenient to adjust later. At this time, when shooting, due to the low illumination angle, it is best to use side light or side backlight to increase the stereoscopic impression and texture of the object, and at the same time show the golden light reflected by the object, thus enhancing the artistic effect of photography.

Exposure; expose

Because rosy clouds reflect sunlight many times, the contrast between light and shade is great, so more accurate exposure is needed. It is suggested to adjust the measurement method to point measurement or center key measurement. Try shooting in aperture priority mode.

Shooting skill

The key to shooting is to choose the right metering point. Usually, the metering point should not be selected in too dark areas, especially on the ground scenery, which will make the sky overexposed and lose color. Choosing the most brightly colored area in the sky as the metering point can keep the color of the rosy clouds.

On this basis, proper adjustment of exposure compensation can make the image color more saturated and thick.

Sunglow and sunset usually only appear for 20 ~ 30 minutes, and their shapes are constantly changing, so we should seize the opportunity when shooting. In addition, because the shooting of rosy clouds generally uses backlight, the ground scenery appears dark and the contrast of photos is relatively large, so the landlord can choose some objects as the foreground of photos, so the photos obtained will be more powerful and infectious.
