How were the scenes of people being burned in the movie shot?

In the past, a layer of special material was applied to human skin so that stuntmen would not feel hot if their bodies were on fire. However, there was a time limit. Once the material evaporated, it would burn the skin. So stuntmen are needed. Nowadays, panic scenes are usually done using computer CG special effects.
