Compared with a mobile phone with thousands of dollars, a good camera lens costs tens of thousands of dollars, and the update speed is very frequent, so that the average family simply can't afford a camera.
Therefore, Nikon, Canon and other brand enterprises lost first in price. And with the increase of China's market share, among the global mobile phone brands, Huawei, Xiaomi, OPPO and other well-known products began to pay attention to the improvement of camera functions.
Even these product companies cooperate with lens manufacturers from Europe. For example, Huawei has been supported by Leica, VIVO has been supplied by Zeiss, and even Hasselblad from Sweden has begun to actively seek cooperation with China brands, which means that the market share of Japanese lenses in China has further declined.
In 2020, the total sales volume of the world's major digital camera manufacturers is only 8.88 million units, less than half that of Nikon ten years ago, and 93% lower than the total scale ten years ago.
But traditional camera manufacturers like Nikon are not willing to wait and see. They are constantly overweight in VR cameras, security cameras and other fields, hoping to overtake in corners. However, the facts let them down again. The VR camera system from Xiaomi has been laid out in various fields, and Nikon China's development plan of finding another way has been dealt a heavy blow.
The infrared camera technology that Canon relies on has also been pushed to the edge of the industry because of the early entry of Hikvision and Dahua.
As far as the current development of the industry is concerned, Japanese companies that once monopolized the domestic camera industry are trying to compete with China mobile phone brand manufacturers. In fact, it is difficult for them to compete with China mobile phone brand manufacturers in the international market.
Some people here may ask, will Japanese companies that have been operating for hundreds of years disappear on the stage of history? In fact, with the continuous expansion of the market, traditional cameras still have great development prospects. For example, some new miniature cameras in recent years are all traditional digital products. With such new product research and development, Nikon and other companies still hope to achieve an increase in industry share again.
Now Japanese companies such as Ou Feiguang are constantly developing lenses with higher precision and clarity, and even have obtained cooperation orders from car companies. In the future, the development space of Japanese companies such as Nikon and Canon will become smaller and smaller.
However, at present, domestic mobile phone brand manufacturers also need to be vigilant. Canon of Japan has acquired competitors in the same industry on a global scale. In the two years after 20 15, it has spent hundreds of billions of yen to acquire camera companies in Switzerland and Japan. If we expand the scale and integrate the technology, Canon still hopes to achieve a counterattack in the field of traditional lens production.
