The plan-planning-budget of the United States Army

Force structure

general situation

According to the concept of the whole army, the US Army consists of two parts: the active army and the reserve. At present, the active army has 10 active divisions, including 1 infantry division, 1 light division, 1 airborne division, 1 air assault division, 3 armored divisions and 3 mechanized infantry divisions. Reserve includes Army Reserve (USAR) and Army National Guard (ARNG). The Army Reserve is a federal force under the direct command of the Army Command. The National Guard is a national military organization. In each state, the National Guard is authorized by the governor. Most of the National Guard are combat troops, while most of the Army reserves are support troops.

According to the types of reserve, it can be divided into reserve, reserve and retired reserve. Reserve reserve is divided into selective reserve (SR) and individual mobilization reserve (IMA). Reserve includes reserve members required for active service and reserve. When all the spare reserves are put into use, they will be mobilized. Veterans' reserve only refers to veterans recruited in wartime or national emergency. After mobilization, the veterans reserve is mainly used for training and/or support.

Modification of M 1A2 abrams Main Battle Tank

1In August 1996, the Army awarded the Ground Systems Department of General Dynamics a contract of $0/500 million to rebuild 580 M 1 abrams main battle tanks according to the M 1A2 standard. This is the second phase of the two-phase System Enhancement Plan (SEP). The goods were delivered from June 1996 to July 5438+0, 2006. The first phase of the contract was signed in September, 1994, with a value of $4170,000. A total of 206 M 1A2 vehicles were delivered. In the reconstruction work, an improved commander's weapon console, commander's special thermal camera and positioning/navigation system were installed.

Modification of Bradley M2A3 infantry fighting vehicle

1In February, 1994, United Defence Company, as the main contractor, undertook the transformation of 1602 M2A2 bradley infantry fighting vehicle into M2A3. The contract value is $4 1 100 million, which requires the installation of improved command and control system, new target capture system and enhanced lethality.

The army is working hard to transform 180 M2A2 bradley chariot into M7A 1 bradley fire support vehicle, which was equipped in 1999 ~ 2003. 1In June, 1995, the Ground Systems Department of the Joint Defense Company won a contract worth 9.7 million US dollars to complete the engineering manufacture and development of four prototype vehicles. The field test of the first XM7A 1 prototype started in April, 1996, and M7 was mass-produced after the field test was successful. As an observation platform in front of the artillery, the fire support unit vehicle can indicate the target for the guided ammunition.

M4 Command and Control Vehicle (C2V)

The Army has begun to replace the M577 command vehicle (M 1 13 chassis) with the M4 command and control vehicle of the joint defense company, and the time is set at 1998 ~ 200 1. M4 command and control vehicle is equipped with army tactical command and control system, advanced field artillery tactical data system, full information source analysis system and mobile control system.

Modification of M93A 1 Fox nuclear biochemical reconnaissance vehicle

1In May, 1996, the Ground Systems Department of KONE Company won the contract of1260,000 USD to rebuild the Army 120 XM93 Fox nuclear and biochemical reconnaissance vehicle (6×6). The vehicle is equipped with global positioning system, nuclear and biochemical sensors (including M2 1 remote sensing chemical warfare agent alarm and measurement sensor) and a new type of in-vehicle display.

Crusader self-propelled howitzer

The Army has selected the Joint Defense Company (including the Ground Systems Department of General Dynamics and Lockheed Martin) to develop a new type of 155mm self-propelled howitzer (Crusader) and related ammunition supply vehicles. The new system is planned to replace some M 109 self-propelled howitzers in active service of the Army before 2005.

Army Tactical Cruise Missile Systems I A, II and IIA

LMV Company signed a contract worth $33 million in 1996 to produce 1650 Army tactical cruise missile Block I with a range of 165km, of which 50 pieces were delivered in 1998. In a subsequent contract worth $75 million, LMV began to produce 70 Block IA (extended range) missiles in small batches, which were delivered as 1998. In fiscal year 98, the mass production of 600 Block IA was completed. Block IA is equipped with a GPS receiver, which greatly improves the accuracy. The development of Block II and Extended Range Block II A is in progress. The Block II missile carries 13 BAT submunitions. Block IIA with a longer range entered the stage of engineering and manufacturing development in 1996, carrying six BAT submunitions.

High mobility artillery rocket system

1In March, 1996, LMV Company signed a 53-month contract worth $23.2 million to develop four HIMARS prototype guns, which is part of the Army's advanced concept technology demonstration plan. The mass production of 75 HIMARS is planned to start in 2002. HIMARS is installed on a 5t M 1083(6×6) chassis, and the whole system can be transported by C- 130 Hercules transport plane.

Intelligent anti-tank submunition

Bat is a kind of unpowered gliding ammunition, which relies on audio and infrared sensors to lock and attack tanks and armored personnel carriers. 65438+ After the final test was completed in1June 1997, the Army planned to purchase 19902 bat submunition and P3I bat submunition. 1998 adopts dual-mode guidance mode, and Elliot Technology Systems and Northrop Grumman have completed the design of their respective components, which will improve the operational efficiency of BAT attacking ground-to-ground missile launch vehicles and other fixed targets.

Theater High Altitude Defense System (THAAD)

1May 1997, THAAD entered the stage of engineering manufacturing and development. After this stage, we have the ability of small batch production. At the beginning of 1998, the prototype system was used for business testing. The development and deployment of THAAD system will cost $654.38+0.7 billion.

Patriot PAC-3 missile

PAC-3 started small batch production on 1997 and delivered the first batch of products on 1998. The Army plans to purchase 1500 missiles, 180 improved launchers and 74 improved radars, with a total cost of $3 billion.

Enhanced optical fiber guided missile

1995, Raytheon Company won the demonstration contract of enhanced optical fiber guided missile system worth 9 1. 1 10,000 dollars, providing 8 sets of launchers (each set includes 1 Hummer, 8 launch tracks), 2 platoon leader command vehicles and 34 missiles (xmgm-/kloc-). In addition, from 1998 to 2000, four transmitters, 1 platoon leader command vehicle and 266 missiles were provided for the extended user authentication (EUE) of1airborne division. After the extended user authentication is completed, decide whether to enter the initial production stage of small batch. EFOGM is a long-range missile system installed on Hummer, which can deal with armored vehicles, helicopters and fixed targets at a distance of 15km. The system includes transmitter (installed on the improved heavy Hummer), which includes shooter console, missile launch controller, seeker image monitor and battle command computer display.

RC-7B Multifunctional Low Altitude Reconnaissance Aircraft (ARL- M)

The army has deployed the first RC-7B ARL-M in South Korea to replace OV- 1D Mohawk. The army's ARL plan began at 1990. 1994 65438+ 10, the army invested 310.6 million dollars to develop ARL-M. The ARL-M adopted the body of Dash-7 and improved it, and then added multi-functional mission components. The mission components include AN/APS- 144 synthetic antenna/moving target indication radar, forward-looking infrared radar, infrared horizontal scanner, sunlight photoelectric camera and super eagle information interception and direction indication system. 1999 12, the army received five ARL -M's, two of which were deployed in South Korea to monitor the demilitarized zone.

AH-64D longbow Apache
