Introduce the whole education system in Britain.

In England, Scotland and Northern Ireland, compulsory education is implemented at the age of 5~ 16, and in Wales, it is implemented at the age of 4~ 16. Although compulsory education is implemented, the education systems in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are different from those in Scotland. 1. Preschool education/preschool education is filtered. Many British children start preschool education at the age of 3-4, which is equivalent to kindergarten education in China. 2. Preparatory/Primary Education Like China, the primary school system in England, Wales and Northern Ireland lasts for 6 years, but children start school at the age of 5 (children in Wales are 4 years old), take the key stage 1 at the age of 7, and take 2 (key stage 2+0 1 at the age of 6). Scottish primary school lasts for 7 years and graduates at the age of 12. Many overseas (including our country) students receive primary education at the age of seven and can enter private schools in Britain, usually boarding schools. In this case, students will graduate from primary school at the age of 13, and the completion age of all stages of education will be delayed by two years. 3. Secondary education British secondary education lasts for seven years and is divided into two stages, namely, the pre-16 stage and the post-16 stage. 16 refers to the educational age of British students. This stage of education can also be called general education, which is relative to higher education. It is inappropriate to call the two-year A-level education of British students 16 years old as pre-university education. In fact, the graduation level of two-year A-level education in Britain is higher than that of three-year senior high school education in China, so it is not difficult to understand why the university system in England and Wales is three years. British students have to study many subjects in the secondary education curriculum before 14 years old, and take the 3 (key stage 3) exam at 14 years old. From the age of 14, students need to study four or five elective courses besides core courses such as English, mathematics and science. Two years later, 16 years old, they will take the 4 (key stage 4 exam. This is the GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) exam, or IGCSE: International GCSE exam, or SCE standard level (Scottish Certificate of Education) exam. 16 years old can continue to study or choose a job after completing the compulsory education stipulated by national laws. Of course, most students still choose to study, and there are two directions for learning: academic direction and career direction. If you want to take a degree course in the future, that is, you want to study academic fields, you usually have to study for two years, and finally take the GCE A level exam or IB (International Bachelor's Degree) exam, and complete secondary education at the age of 18. In Scotland, students aged 16 only need to study for one year and take SCE H-Grade (Scottish Certificate of Education Advanced Level) course. Those who pass the exam can be admitted to the University of Scotland. If their grades are not satisfactory or they want to go to a university outside Scotland, they can study for another year, improve their grades in the original courses or take the SCE Advanced Higher Grade exam. Generally speaking, the primary education in China is as long as that in Britain, which lasts for six years, while the secondary education in China (3-year junior high school +3-year senior high school) is one year shorter than that in Britain, which explains why high school graduates in China must go to the British university preparatory course first. 4.3 Call-to-Call Education after Secondary School Examination (key stage: at the age of 365,438+04, students can study in the career direction instead of in the academic direction, that is, after completing compulsory education at the age of 65,438+06, they can receive vocational education and training to prepare for employment. Education between the ages of 14 and 16 is still compulsory regardless of academic education or vocational education. /kloc-Vocational education after 0/6 years old belongs to the category of continuing education. For continuing education, please refer to Chapter III Introduction of Continuing Education Institutions. Vocational education and training has a wide range of contents, which are mainly divided into four categories: general vocational qualification, higher vocational qualification, vocational qualification and vocational training. (1)/kloc-students with general vocational qualifications over 0/4 years old can choose a career direction if they don't choose academic direction, such as the National General Vocational Qualification Certificate (GNVQ) course, which is a Scottish General Vocational Qualification Certificate (GSVQ) course with strong practicability. The level of basic GNVQ course is equivalent to that of four GCSE courses, with grades from D to G; The intermediate GNVQ course level is equivalent to four GCSE courses, with grades from A* to C; The level of advanced GNVQ course is equivalent to the level of advanced general education certificate (A-Level) course. In other words, students who choose GNVQ courses can apply for universities as long as their grades are qualified. Since September 2000, a professional A-level course named AVCE (Advanced Vocal Certificate of Education) has appeared in Britain, which is gradually replacing the advanced GNVQ course, and its level is equivalent to that of academic A-level courses. (2) Higher vocational qualification courses are aimed at students over the age of 18, mainly including national advanced certificate (HNC) and national advanced diploma (HND). The former needs to study for one year, while the latter needs to study for two years, which is equivalent to the first and second years of a bachelor's degree course. After graduation, you can transfer to a bachelor's degree course, and sometimes you can study directly in your sophomore or junior year, depending on the specific situation. A few higher vocational qualification diplomas can reach the graduate level. (3) Vocational Qualification Britain can provide some vocational qualification certificate courses widely recognized by the world, such as business, computer, engineering, art design, hotel management, tourism, fashion design, etc. Everyone is familiar with the qualification certificate of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the diploma of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). (4) Vocational training Almost all the occupations you are interested in have corresponding courses in Britain, such as catering, beauty salons, advertising, tourism, photography, golf management, film production and sound technology. 5. Higher Education/Kloc-After passing the Advanced General Education Certificate Examination or equivalent examination at the age of 0/8, British students entered the stage of higher education. Higher education refers to the course education and training above undergraduate level. After most courses, you can get a bachelor's degree, a master's degree, a doctor's degree or equivalent. More than 30% of young people in Britain receive higher education. There are more than 6.5438+0.8 million full-time and part-time higher education students in Britain, of which 5% are from the European Union and 6% are from other countries in the world.
