Lighting skills of common portraits in studio photography

Lead: For studio portrait photography, it is very important to creatively light up and deal with the relationship between models and the environment. Let's take a look at the lighting skills!

1. The main light source is placed on the right side of the model, and the auxiliary light source is placed on the upper left of the model to add some light to the shadow of the model face, thus highlighting the details of the shadow. The background light in the back makes the overall outline of the model jump out of the dark background. The illumination of the main lamp is slightly insufficient, which leads to the insufficient illumination of the left finger end of the model.

2. Adopt the classic lighting mode of 1 main light and 1 auxiliary light. Because the model's face, especially eyes, is the focus of photo shooting, a softer floodlight is used as the main light, which creates eye light on the one hand and depicts the details of the red silk shawl on the other, while the auxiliary light on the upper right is used to reduce the ghost of the model's face and make the nose outline more prominent.

This is a full-length photo, the main light is placed in front of the model, and it is taken from bottom to top, taking into account the model's clothing and facial lighting. The 45-degree contour lights on the left and right sides of the model ensure that the light on the model's face is soft enough. This triangle illumination method can be used when the whole model needs uniform illumination. But as far as this picture is concerned, the details of the model's white skirt have not been retained, and the cheeks should be avoided because of the more prominent shadows.

4. The main light is located at the upper left of the model, illuminating the hair on the shoulders and face of the model and the feathers decorated in the background. The auxiliary light located right in front of the model largely compensates for the shadow caused by the main light. The light background light behind the model is used to create an atmosphere.

The focus of this picture is the contrast between the model's red suit and black hair and the white background, and the exposed eyes are the finishing touch. Therefore, the main light pays more attention to the texture performance of the red suit, while the auxiliary light located at the upper left of the model can shine more brightly.

6. The main light located to the left in front of the model creates the eye light and the outline of the model's face, and the auxiliary light is omitted because the model's left face is covered by hazy black gauze.

7. The main light is located in front of the model and the light on the face is relatively flat. The black cloak pulled up by the model acts as a partial reflector here. Hair is illuminated by an auxiliary lamp above. The visual highlight of this work lies in the white border on the black cloak.

8. The main light is located at the top left of the model, illuminating the hair, face and shoulders of the model. The auxiliary lamp is located at the lower right of the model and is used to provide enough light for the model's blue gauze clothing. In order to highlight the rippling background, background light is specially used to brighten it.
