What is a cookie lens?

1, interpretation

Cookie head refers to a kind of lens with short length (that is, very thin) in SLR lens. Because it looks like a biscuit, it got the nickname biscuit head.

In order to pursue the ultimate compact size, this kind of lens sacrifices the proportion of the maximum aperture and even the image quality of the lens. Generally, the maximum aperture of biscuit head is only F2.4-2.8.

2. Origin

Pentax DA 40mm F2.8 limited lens went on sale at the end of 2004. Because the lens thickness is only 15mm, it has won the reputation of the world's smallest SLR automatic lens. Although more thin lenses appeared later, so far no opponent can surpass it. Pentax DA 40mm F2.8 Limited can stand the test. Pentax DA 40mm F2.8Limited also got the nickname "cookie lens" because of its ultra-thin body.

3. Advantages

(1) is small, so that the whole lens can be easily put into the pocket;

(2) Fast, focusing speed is unmatched by zoom head;

(3) The "fast" large aperture makes the shutter speed much faster, and the ability to capture moments is good;

(4) the viewing angle is fixed. After skilled use, you can blind shot (without looking at the viewfinder) or carry it with you. A camera that is ready to shoot at the moment of taking out the camera, can solidify the wonderful moment, will not attract attention, and does not need to take pictures. It is a sharp weapon for human photography. Some masters' works are representative works of this kind of camera.
