How to use light in photography? Tips on using light in photography

The light used for photography is divided into forward light\backlight\side backlight.

Under normal lighting conditions, using the camera's metering mode to take photos will generally result in correct exposure, but the photos will be relatively flat.

Photos taken with backlighting and side backlighting have better light and shadow effects. But metering is more troublesome. Teach you a little trick to get the effect.

When taking pictures under backlight conditions, the main reason is that the subject being photographed is underexposed, which we usually call dark. How to solve it?

1. If you are taking photos of people who are relatively close to the camera, it is a good idea to use flash compensation to ensure that the background is clear.

2. Use spot metering to measure the light on the subject, and the photos taken will have unexpected effects.

3. Using exposure compensation in normal metering mode can also solve the problem of the subject being underexposed.

By mastering these light metering methods, you can flexibly treat the light at the scene and take good photos.
