Basic definition of basic surveying and mapping

Chapter III, Article 11 of People's Republic of China (PRC) Surveying and Mapping Law stipulates that basic surveying and mapping refers to the establishment of a unified national surveying and mapping benchmark and mapping system, basic aerial photography, acquisition of remote sensing data of basic geographic information, measurement and updating of national basic scale maps, image maps and digital products, and establishment and updating of basic geographic information systems.

National unified surveying and mapping datum and surveying and mapping system are the basis of all kinds of surveying and mapping activities. The data obtained by basic aerial photography can record the features, geomorphological features and the relationship between features in a certain area in detail, and reflect the distribution of land resources. Remote sensing data of basic geographic information is an important source of basic geographic information data. The national basic scale map is the basic map for economic construction and social development. The scale series of basic scale maps determined in China are 1: 1 10,000, 1: 500,000,1:250,000, 1: 1: 50,000,/kloc-0. Basic geographic information system is a computer system that generates and outputs all kinds of basic geographic information by integrating, storing, retrieving, operating and analyzing basic geographic information data.
