Why can’t pregnant women go to Dai Temple?

People who cannot go to Dai Temple include: children, pregnant women, and people with revealing clothing.

1. Children, children are spiritual and can see things that others cannot see. Therefore, if you carry a child to the temple, you are likely to see something that will scare the child.

2. Pregnant women, pregnant women cannot go to temples casually, because incense will be burned in the temples, and the smell may irritate the fetus. Also, because of the special status of pregnant women, going to temples may conflict with the gods.

3. People with scantily clad clothes. If people with scantily clad clothes enter and leave the temple, it is an act of disrespecting the temple and is also very uncivilized.

Cultural legends

In ancient times, Mount Tai was known as the "Shenzhou", "Jinan Prefecture is full of people, and Tai'an Prefecture is full of gods." On the stele of the "True Shape Map of the Five Mountains" existing in Dai Temple, the pictographic symbols of the Five Mountains are engraved, and the responsibilities of the five mountain gods are divided. The greatest authority is assigned to the God of Mount Tai: "The master is responsible for the official positions of the people of the world and the period of life and death, and also pays attention to the distinction between high and low, long and short matters."

"The King of Mount Tai of Dongyue leads the group of five thousand gods. Nine hundred people, in charge of life and death, are also the commanders of hundreds of ghosts, and the ancestors of the Blood Food Temple are worshiped. "After Zhu Yuanzhang, the emperor of the Ming Dynasty, came to the throne, he reformed the system of granting Zen, and instead sent officials to offer sacrifices. In 1370 AD, a monument was erected in Dai Temple to correct the name, and all titles of the God of Mount Tai were removed. Although the title was removed, the title of Emperor Dongyue was still used throughout the generations.
