Silhouette skills of backlight shooting

Lead: Silhouette photos express the outline of the shooting target. No matter who is shooting, mountains or buildings, the photos will present a secret outline. The details of objects are no longer what we care about, but the sharp shape like scissors is what we want. The following are the silhouette techniques I have carefully arranged for you. Welcome to refer to them!

contour control

When taking a silhouette of a person, it is best to choose the part with obvious curves and contours of the human body. For example, the outline of the nose and mouth, so that the photos taken are more meaningful.

Low altitude shooting

Shooting at an ultra-low angle can make the subject stand out from the background and avoid some messy scenes that interfere with the picture. I hope you can choose the shooting location so that your subject can form a good angle with the sky.

Turn off the flash

Flash is usually used to illuminate the main body or fill the light. We want the subject to be underexposed when shooting the silhouette effect, so don't turn on the flash. If you use automatic mode, please switch to P mode or other modes, because the flash will usually turn on automatically in full automatic mode!

Action and posture

When you find the right position to separate the subject from the background, you should start to deal with the movements and postures of the characters. Because the details have disappeared in the silhouette photo, the silhouette requirement is very high.

P-mode shooting

Friends who are not very skilled in using the camera can choose the P file and press the shutter half-way, so that the camera can automatically measure light in a bright background first. Don't let go at this time, then move the camera to aim at the subject to be photographed, and finally press the shutter completely to get the silhouette effect.

M-mode shooting

If the shooting effect in automatic mode is not good, you can try manual shooting in M file. The easiest way to use manual mode is to refer to the shutter speed and aperture size in automatic mode (half-press the shutter in automatic mode and then write down the obtained data) and make adjustments based on this.

Shooting opportunity

The best time to take a silhouette is about 20-30 minutes before sunset. It depends on whether the angle of the sunset meets the best effect you want, which can form the best height difference between you and the subject.
