Children's shooting focusing skills

Lead: Children are naturally active, so I bring some suggestions on how to focus on children's photography. Come and have a look!

1) Set autofocus. Why is the autofocus point aimed at the background instead of the child I want to shoot?

2) I want to film the children running around in the park. Why didn't the camera catch up with the child according to my instructions?

How to improve the success rate? How to use your own SLR camera flexibly?

Let's go! On the topic of "focusing", the author shares his own experience. I hope everyone can get started quickly and help themselves or their friends' children shoot photo albums that are suitable for both static and dynamic! ^^

Understand the camera's focusing system. Different camera brands have their own focusing systems. As long as we know the concept of focusing, we can easily apply it.

Before choosing the correct focusing method, you need to judge whether you want to take a still photo or a dynamic photo, and whether the focusing is automatic, single point, multi-point, 3D and so on.

List the focusing methods of two brands:

Practical demonstration (applicable to Nikon and Canon medium/high-order SLR) Static shooting example 1 (subject in focus)

If the subject is in an optional focus, you can make a good composition first, and then focus on the subject's eyes with "multi-selection".

Setting step: 1) N: Switch the focus mode to AF-S C: Switch the focus mode to one shot.

2) N: Switch to single-point autofocus (press the autofocus mode button) c: Switch to single-point autofocus (press autofocus). Drive and command dials).

3) N: rotating master &; Sub-command dial, select AFS to switch to "single point" C: press Focus Selec (red circle) and then press M-Fn to switch to single point AF.

4)C & amp; N: multiple selectors, focusing on the eyes of the subject.

5)C & amp; N: Connect the shutter half-way, and press the shutter fully after confirmation.

Example 2 (The subject is out of focus) If the subject is out of focus (Figure 1), first adjust the focus to the direction closest to your subject, fix the nearest focus, lock the focus by half pressing the shutter, and then re-compose (Figure 2).

Note: Don't move too much to prevent the focal length from changing too much.

Setup steps: (Nikon: assuming AF-S and single-focus mode, Canon: assuming single-shot and single-focus mode)

1) Use multiple selectors to adjust the focus to the focus of the nearest subject;

2) Fix the focal length first, and lock the focal length by half pressing the shutter;

3) Re-composition (keep the shutter half pressed and pay attention to the diagram of the focus. Although it will deviate from the' focus' you want with your composition, the focal length has not changed because you have been pressing the shutter for half a time);

4) Press the shutter to complete the confirmation.

Tips: Focus first and then write, or write first and then focus? Please refer to the figure below. Imagine a group of people shooting in parallel. The distance (A/B) between the camera and each subject is different. This distance is called the focal plane distance. If you focus on object B, the focal plane distance of object B is the length of blue line. When you lock the focus and re-compose (to cover subject A), the actual distance becomes pink instead of the length of the black line, and the imaging of subject A becomes blurred.

From the above theory, we know the shortcomings of blurred images that may appear after focusing first, but it is easy to happen when shooting with large aperture, because the focus of large aperture is very thin and it is easy to lose focus.

If it is an entry-level SLR, the focus is relatively small. Focusing first and then composing can solve the problem that the focus can't cover the subject. Therefore, there is no absolute difference between focusing first and then composing or focusing first, and it can be adjusted according to the actual situation.

Dynamic shooting

Setting step: 1) N: Switch the focus mode to AF-C C: Switch the focus mode to AI servo.

2) N: Press the AF mode button to turn the auxiliary main command dial C: Press AF. Drive the button to turn the command panel.

3) N: Turn the main and auxiliary command dials to switch to automatic/single point AF/

D9/D2 1/D5 1 Multi-focus (adjusted according to different situations) C: Press focus selection (red circle) and then press M-Fn to single point AF/

Multi-focus (adjusted according to different situations)

4)C & amp; N: If it is a single-point mode, you will focus on the theme of the composition in your mind and make a trap focus.

5)C & amp; N: Keep the shutter half closed, pay attention to the viewer, and press the shutter when the picture in your mind appears.

Tips to improve the success rate of shooting, besides setting the focus mode correctly, we should also pay attention to other camera settings!

Whether the shutter value of 1) is enough to condense dynamic action, it is recommended to use shutter prerequisite mode.

2) continuous shooting mode, have you adjusted the continuous shooting mode to the maximum value, for example, 4/6 FPS?

3) Don't open the aperture too wide, and keep enough tolerance to prevent slight defocusing.

4) When taking dynamic photos, it is recommended to use a 70-200mm/70-300mm zoom lens, which can give children enough space to walk around. Generally, zoom lenses focus faster and have higher mobility than fixed-focus lenses.
