How to take a selfie with a SLR when traveling alone?

Traveling alone, lonely or lonely.

Self-portrait, maybe to leave a souvenir for yourself, maybe to prove that you can play well alone, maybe just to take a photo for yourself.

I don't think much equipment is needed for taking selfies with SLR during travel. Many people recommend tripods, but I don't think it is necessary. You are traveling, not taking scenery photos. It is unnecessary to take a selfie with a tripod. So, what do you need? Take my Canon 80d as an example. Self-timer only needs a mobile phone, or a wireless remote control, or even nothing.

Because there is no tripod, the premise of the following method is that you should find a stable and highly suitable platform for placing cameras. It would be better if the LCD screen could be turned over. You can observe your image at any time through the display screen, and then we will start taking selfies.

Enter the camera's self-timer mode, 80d is to drive the adjustment dial to select the shooting opportunity, the first is 10s delay, and the second is 2s delay. Before taking a selfie, you need to estimate the position where you are taking a selfie in front of the camera, put a body double in that position to focus, fix the camera after focusing, select 10s delay, press the shutter, walk to body double and pose. The camera will light up before shooting.

Turn on the camera WIFI, and connect the camera through the Camera Connect on the mobile phone, as shown below:

Enter the remote control real-time display shooting interface, focus on the mobile phone, then set the shape and press the shutter.

This is the Camera Connect remote control shooting interface, which can control the shutter, ISO, aperture and other parameters, and also facilitate focusing.

This method is also best set to 2s delay, because you want to see the operation of the mobile phone, and if you shoot directly, you will take a picture of looking down at the mobile phone. After setting the 2s delay, you can press the shutter of your mobile phone and pose calmly.

The operation of this method is similar to the first one. You also need to find body double to focus well, but you don't need to press the shutter on the camera. After setting the shape, you can shoot directly by pressing the remote control button. Note that the 80D remote controller can only be used in the delayed state, but it will not be delayed again. It is very convenient to shoot immediately after the camera is pressed.

The above three are the self-portrait methods I often use, and the second one in L is the most convenient for mobile phone connection.

Finally, when traveling alone, besides taking selfies, I think it is also a good choice to ask others to take pictures for you. Communicating with strangers is also a great pleasure in traveling.
