Calliandra haematocepha

Scientific name: Calliandra haematocepha

Alternative name: Calliandra haematocepha

Family: Bean Branch

Origin: Native to tropical America, now widely introduced in Zhanjiang.

Morphological characteristics: Evergreen shrub or small tree, branches expanded; bipinnate compound leaves, leaflets obliquely lanceolate; axillary flower head, about 3cm in diameter, filaments dark red, very numerous. Blooming all year round, the flowers are beautiful and can be grown in clusters for viewing.

An ancient poem praises the hibiscus flower: "It is pitiful that all the trees have withered away, but only the branches are blooming and new." This poem is also very appropriate to describe the beautiful red flower. Although many places in the south of my country have entered winter and the landscapes have gradually become dull, the brilliant flowers of the red flower are still in full bloom on the trees, making up for the loneliness of the green spaces in the south in winter, and they are worthy of being called winter flowers.

The flowers are clustered in flower heads, with many filaments, dark red or pink, like small hydrangeas, bright and eye-catching, with sharp contrast between red and green among the green leaves. It looks like a bunch of red hydrangeas hanging among the trees. It is beautiful, elegant and warm, unique in style, exquisite and cute, and very eye-catching. The leaves are also very special, like pinnae, green and lovely; the flowering period is long, blooming twice a year, the first time from early March to mid-July, and the second time from mid-October to early February of the following year.

Blooms in winter, has a long flowering period and is highly ornamental. The red cherry blossoms are as fluffy as pompoms and very beautiful.

Growth habits: Zhu Yinghua likes to be fertile, resistant to heat, drought and pruning.

This is the Albizia Julibrissin tree.
