The difference between lotus and lotus

First, "Lotus" and "Lotus" are not the same plant:

Lotus has been abundant in China for a long time, and there are many nicknames in China. Because of different regions and cultures, the names of the parts are different, so there are other names such as lotus, lotus, water lotus, water lotus, grass lotus and gentleman flower.

The flower of lotus resembles lotus, and people mistakenly think that it is just a kind of lotus, just like the "seahorse" is shaped like a horse, not a horse.

Second, the "hometown" of lotus and lotus is different:

Lotus originated in Asia, but its ancestral home is as far away as Egypt.

Three, lotus and lotus are different in plant taxonomy:

Lotus is a dicotyledonous plant-Diptera lotus, and there is only one kind of lotus in the world.

Lotus is a dicotyledonous plant class-water lily-water lily subfamily-water lily-water lily species. There are about 80 species of water lilies in the world.

4. The plant morphology of lotus is different from that of lotus:

Lotus flowers and leaves stand high on the water, also called leaves, and some can be more than 1 meter above the water. Most of the flowers and leaves of the lotus are floating on the water, and some of them are slightly higher and close to the water. Lotus leaves are generally smaller than lotus flowers, but there is a kind of "Wang Lian" with a diameter of more than one meter, on which an adult can sit.

In addition, the underwater part of the lotus has lotus root, which is edible and can be used as medicine. The roots of the underwater part of the lotus are irregular. Without lotus root, plants are rarely available, and flowers can only be used to make tea or perfume.

Five, lotus and lotus have different reproductive forms:

Lotus is hermaphrodite, mainly self-pollinated (insects and wind can also be used). On the same flower, there are many stamens, and the pistil is free and buried in the inverted conical sponge receptacle. There are many scattered honeycomb holes on the surface of receptacle. The stamen pollen naturally falls off, and after the pistil is fertilized, the receptacle gradually expands into a lotus flower, and a nut (lotus seed) is born in each hole.

The bisexual flowers of lotus depend on insects and wind-borne pollen, so it is difficult to pollinate and bear fruit smoothly, so rootstock propagation is often used.

Originally, I saw a lot of information about mixing lotus and lotus on the internet, and even said that lotus is lotus. But this time, the author found that from the perspective of Buddhism, lotus and lotus are both sacred symbols of Buddhism, but they are different in rank.

Finally, the difference between the two is emphasized: in Buddhism, there are seven kinds of lotus, so it is called "Seven Treasures Lotus". In fact, of these seven kinds of lotus, only two are lotus, namely Bai Lianhua (Fantori flower) and Honglian (Potomac flower), and the other five are water lilies. Therefore, there are seven different kinds of lotus under the Bodhisattva, including lotus and water lily. Only the Buddha statues of Mahayana Buddhism can use lotus flowers.

Therefore, the conclusion is:

Lotus is lotus, lotus is the flower of water lily!
