Tianping Mountain Fengjing Special

"Red maple, clear spring and strange stone" have been called "three wonders of balance" since ancient times, among which several red maple are the most famous and legendary. More than 400 years ago, Fan Yunlin, the17th generation of Fan Zhongyan, an outstanding official, writer and painter in the Ming Dynasty, retired from Fujian and returned to his hometown of Suzhou.

Fan Yunlin, who is uncorrupted, brought back 380 Liquidambar formosana seedlings instead of gold and silver treasures. He planted these saplings at the foot of Tianping Mountain around Shi Jingtang, and now they have grown into towering trees. In spring and summer, the ancient maple trees are luxuriant in foliage and cover the sky. Every late autumn, the forest is dyed, especially when the sun sets, and the sunset glow and red leaves set each other off, which is the most spectacular. The most special thing is that after the maple leaves in Tian Ping are turned yellow by frost in autumn, they will show five different colors in turn, namely light yellow, orange yellow, eosin, blood tooth red and crimson. They are called "multicolored maple" and have been known as "Tian Ping Hongfeng is the best in the world" since ancient times.

In addition to planting trees to beautify the environment, Fan Yunlin also donated thousands of acres of fertile land as the poor and weak fields of his family, donated money to repair Gong Fan Temple in Tianping Mountain, and built Tianping Mountain Villa, a private garden, which left us a landscape and a much-told story.
