Why did Maxwell make a great contribution to the study of color photography?

James clerk maxwell (183 1 ~ 1879), a famous British physicist, has made great contributions to the research of color photography.

1861May 17, Max Weil showed the world's first full-color image by showing slides. In this famous experiment, he took three slides of the same object with red, green and blue filters respectively. Then, three slide projectors are equipped with corresponding filters for projection. When three images are accurately superimposed on the screen, all the colors on the original are reproduced.

Maxwell's demonstration verified the theory of three primary colors and the principle of additive method, and laid the foundation of modern color photography theory.
