Actually, I want to ask, is time-lapse photography the same as slow motion?

It's different. Time-lapse photography can be called timing photography. The camera takes pictures of the scene at a set time and then combines them into a movie.

Slow motion is high-speed photography. And then play it at a timed speed.

The former is compression in the sense of time. So some people call it time-lapse photography.

The latter is amplification or enlargement in the sense of time, that is, prolonging time.
