Techniques for photographing trees

If you love photography, have you ever been fascinated by the depths of nature's forest? When sunlight passes through the forest, it will scatter a little starlight. Who doesn't love such a blockbuster? But again, why many experts can take these photos well is skillful. Let Bian Xiao tell you.

1, shoot the light through the forest.

When sunlight penetrates the forest, it is blocked by leaves and branches, so it will form bundles of light through the forest. This kind of light is called "the holy light of Jesus" by some photographers, which can add a sense of sacredness to the picture.

Shooting such a subject, it is best to choose early morning or dusk, when the sun shines obliquely in the Woods, and the best picture effect can be obtained. In actual shooting, you can shoot against the light, or shoot with side light and parallel light.

In terms of exposure, dark photos can be taken according to the brightness of forest light to set off the light in the forest; On this basis, you can also add 1~2 exposure compensation to make the picture more detailed.

Shoot the forest beam in reverse light, and add 1 exposure compensation, so that the picture not only has a sense of beam, but also has some details, and the contrast between light and dark is obvious.

Focal length: 70mm┆ aperture: F7. 1┆ shutter speed: 1/25s┆ sensitivity: ISO 100.

Against the dark background, Lin Liang gives people a very sacred feeling, and the background can be darkened by reducing the exposure compensation when shooting.

Focal length: 30mm┆ Aperture: F9┆ Shutter speed:112s ┆ Sensitivity: ISO800

2. patting the trunk shows tenacious vitality.

In addition to the overall description of the big scene of trees, there are also some expressive local close-ups to highlight some characteristics of trees. For example, we can also do a close-up of the trunk. Although the rough trunk has no aesthetic feeling, it can well show the tenacious vitality of trees.

Shooting from a low angle, with the clean sky as the background, under the illumination of side light, the contrast between light and shade is obvious, which shows the rough texture and strange shape of the trunk well.

Focal length: 10mm┆ aperture: F2.8┆ shutter speed:1100s ┆ sensitivity: ISO 100.

3. Take pictures of trees to show the beauty of light and shadow.

Simply taking a picture of a tree is monotonous, and you can use the surrounding environment to set off the trees and beautify the picture. Usually, you can choose to shoot at sunset. The afterglow of the sunset has dyed the sky red, and the trees are taken as silhouettes in the picture. The whole picture is beautiful, the trees are also prominent, and the feeling of light and shadow is obvious.

Silhouette is used to strengthen the shape and outline of trees. Sunlight penetrates through the leaves to form mottled light and shadow and warm gradient color, which makes the sunset picture more beautiful.

Focal length: 18mm┆ aperture: f/kloc-0 ┆ shutter speed: 1/250s┆ sensitivity: ISO 100.

4. Use backlight to represent the silhouette of the tree.

Silhouette effect shooting can dilute the details of the subject and strengthen the shape and outline of the subject. Trees usually have simplified main branches and complex branches. Photographers can borrow this characteristic of trees, choose colorful sky as the background and take the trees in the foreground as silhouettes. In the dense branches of trees, there will be a scattered effect, branches will be as flashy and gorgeous as fine patterns, and they will be handsome and beautiful in sparse places.

The photographer exposed the blue sky, and the trees in the picture showed a very beautiful silhouette effect.

Focal length: 30mm┆ aperture: F 10┆ shutter speed: 32s┆ sensitivity: ISO 100.

Two leaves

1, shooting translucent leaves.

When the leaves are photographed by backlight, the leaves with translucent effect can be obtained. When shooting, you should try to choose a large aperture telephoto lens, compress the depth of field, and blur the messy background to highlight the leaves in the picture. The dark background can create a strong contrast between light and dark. When necessary, it is necessary to add a hood to the lens to prevent stray light from entering the lens and affecting the picture effect.

Under the compression of telephoto lens, the leaves as the main body stand out in the picture with small depth of field, and the picture appears concise and powerful, while the photographer chooses a dark background to set off the yellow leaves, which better highlights the transparent texture of the leaves.

Focal length: 180mm┆ aperture: F5.6┆ shutter speed: 1/400s┆ sensitivity: ISO200.

2. Special styling

If you don't have good conditions to shoot the forest, you can carefully look for something special in the forest as the shooting object. At this point, we don't even need to express it in any other fancy way, as long as it is recorded truthfully, it is already an excellent work in itself.

Taking close-ups of young leaves with telephoto lens, its special shape and texture are very clear and vivid in the picture with small depth of field, and the details are vivid and prominent, which brings a strong visual impression to the audience.

Focal length: 60mm┆ aperture: f1┆ shutter speed: 1/200s┆ sensitivity: ISO 100.

Step 3 highlight the subject with a dark background

Like taking flowers, we can also set off the main leaves with a black background. When shooting outdoors, we can make full use of the shadows produced by natural light as the background, thus easily creating a mystery of dark or even black background.

Shoot the red leaves in the shade, and use the light to make the background and leaves form a bright and dark contrast, which not only distinguishes the leaves from other scenery, but also highlights the red maple leaves under the dark background. Focus: 200mm┆ aperture: F5.6┆ shutter speed: 1/400s┆ sensitivity: ISO 100.

4. The beauty of dead leaves

Autumn is coming, winter is coming, and yellow leaves can be seen everywhere. As long as you put your heart into them, they are also excellent shooting materials. Usually, with the help of small depth of field and light and shadow effects, an atmosphere of lost years can be shown.

This photo shows a dead leaf in autumn. Under the sunlight, the details and textures of the red leaves are very clear, and the picture presents a different artistic conception.

Focal length: 50mm┆ Aperture: F5.6┆ Shutter speed: 1/320s┆ Sensitivity: ISO 100.

5. The most artistic corner

When we want to shoot green leaves in the Woods, we often feel that we can't start, either it's too messy or the picture is crowded, making it difficult to distinguish between priority and priority. This is mainly a matter of composition.

Don't always think about taking pictures of all the branches and leaves when shooting. We can find a corner of the leaf and let it occupy about 2/3 of the screen, leaving other areas as blank as possible. If the background is really messy, you can use a large aperture or a long focal length to blur the background and highlight the subject to be represented.

When shooting in dense forests, the picture is often dark or the shutter speed is reduced due to insufficient light. At this time, the flash can be used to fill the light, but in order to avoid the reflective marks on the leaves, it is best to use a soft mask to soften the light of the flash. In addition, we can also increase the exposure compensation appropriately to brighten the picture.

In the picture, the leaves of Populus euphratica are dense, and the picture is very clean and transparent against the blue sky.

Focal length: 15mm┆ aperture: F8┆ shutter speed: 1/400s┆ sensitivity: ISO 100.

Shooting the red maple leaf in the backlight, the water vapor is rendered golden yellow by the sun, which makes the red maple leaf very artistic.

Focal length: 85mm┆ aperture: F2.8┆ shutter speed: 1/640s┆ sensitivity: ISO 100.
