Advantages and disadvantages of portrait shooting along the light

The advantages and disadvantages of portrait shooting along the light are as follows:

Advantages: The light comes from behind the photographer (camera). At this time, the face of the subject is very bright, and there will be shadows behind the subject, but the shadows will be blocked by the subject.

Disadvantages: the portrait is evenly illuminated without obvious shadows, which will make the picture look flat, which is not conducive to the three-dimensional sense and space sense of the picture, and the picture is dull and boring.

Shoot along the light. This kind of lamp has a good lighting effect. It can make the subject's face bright and receive light evenly. Also called "positive light", it is suitable for showing a lively and happy image, and it is not difficult to shoot. However, if it is not handled well, the subject will look pale or even dazzling, and then there will be a lack of three-dimensional sense in photo shooting.

Side light shooting, top light shooting and backlight shooting:

1, sidelight shooting

This kind of light will produce fascinating abstract effects, especially soft side light, and the light that falls behind in the day can produce luminous characteristics, softness and space that other outdoor lights can't match. For strong side light, weak side light will not suppress the shadow side of the bright side of the face, so there will be no obvious shadow lines on both sides of the face.

2. Top light shooting

This kind of light is very strong and hard, and there will be heavy shadows under the nose and eye sockets of the characters. It is rarely used in portrait photography, but it is also an effective light if you want to express a very special atmosphere.

For example, you can lift your body and let the light shine on your face. At the same time, you can let the figure raise his hand to cover his eyes a little, to avoid direct glare, so that the whole face is evenly illuminated. You can also let the model put on a sun hat to block the sunshine overhead and make good use of it. It is another beautiful photo.

3. Backlight shooting

This light is emitted from the back of the protagonist. Many times, an inexperienced photographer wants to take a clear picture of the protagonist's face, but the background will be overexposed. If you want normal background exposure, then people's faces will be very dark. Therefore, in this case, we must master the photometry, control the exposure, or use the method of filling the main body of the character, especially the face, in order to take pictures with clear characters and preserved background details.

Making good use of backlight to shoot portraits will show a good sense of space (light will make people feel distant from the background), and at the same time, backlight will well shape the aesthetic feeling of characters, especially for faces with beautiful figure and obvious side features, which can show a beautiful and artistic portrait photo.
