Zongzi ball is a traditional "snack" eaten during the Dragon Boat Festival in Chaoshan area, but it is actually another form of Zongzi. Zongzi is named for its angular shape and glutinous rice inside. Tangyuan is called "Tangyuan" because it is made of bamboo tubes and leaves, filled with rice and hung like a ball by salty grass. Shanshan arrived in Chaozhou after the Dragon Boat Festival, but she has been thinking about the "Zongqiu" in Chaozhou.
Before I left Guangzhou, my friends in Chaozhou, Guangzhou kept reminding me that when I arrived in Chaozhou, I must try all kinds of local special snacks, among which I especially mentioned Chaozhou's "Zongqiu". This friend from Chaozhou told me: Every year around the Dragon Boat Festival, I will see online arguments about whether zongzi is sweet or salty. Until one day, three girls from Shanshan came to visit Dawan, because dinner and breakfast were settled in the accommodation. After dinner that day, the owner of the hotel told me that I could have breakfast when I came back from watching the sunrise tomorrow. Breakfast is "sweet potato porridge", and there was no expectation for breakfast at that time.
Early in the morning, when Shanshan three daughters watched the beautiful sunrise at Dayuanwan seaside, on their way back to their residence, they saw an old man sitting by the seaside, facing the sea. Two old people are talking softly. For a while, the old man held the old woman's hand, and the old woman was laughing at the old man ... I don't know why, at that moment, I thought the picture was so beautiful that it made people feel warm. This may be because I am in the big garden.
Back to the hotel, the owner of the hotel has prepared breakfast. In the morning, there are not only sweet potato porridge, but also steamed buns and side dishes ... Also, the "Zongqiu" that Shanshan has been thinking about is really surprising.
When the boss handed Shanshan the "Tangyuan", it was hot, wrapped in salt water grass, bulging in the middle, with two corners on both sides, which was very beautiful. When the temperature dropped a little outside, I opened the "Zongzi Ball". At first, I saw that zongzi was similar to the zongzi we usually eat. The glutinous rice was mixed with "salty" fillings such as pork, shrimp, beans and eggs ... But when I continued to observe, I found the characteristics of Chaoshan Zongzi. On the other side of Zongzi, I saw the "sweet" ingredient: red bean paste. This kind of zongzi, half salty and half sweet with bean paste, is also called "double boiled zongzi ball" by locals.
Shanshan tasted the salty stuffing first, and then tasted the sweetness. The smell swirled in her mouth, but it felt so harmonious. The taste is wonderful. I didn't expect the combination of the two to give off a unique filling, which is soft and greasy. Then I ate it bite by bite, and a big "dumpling" was eaten up by Shanshan. I sighed in my heart: there is really no need to fight for sweetness and saltiness. Here you are.
