What kind of locomotive is China high-speed rail?

At present, there are four types of high-speed locomotives in China: CRH 1, CRH2, CRH3 and CRH5. CRH 1 is produced by Qingdao Sifang-Bombardier-Bauer Railway Transportation Equipment Co., Ltd. (BSP Company for short), and Sifang locomotives account for 50% of the shares of BSP Company. CRH2 is jointly manufactured by Japanese consortia such as CSR Sifang and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, and adopts Japanese Shinkansen technology. CRH3 is produced by Tangshan Locomotive Works in conjunction with Siemens and adopts German technology. CRH5 is produced by Changchun Bus Factory and Alstom Company.

Among them, the design speed of CRH 1, CRH2 and CRH5 is more than 200 kilometers per hour, while the design speed of CRH3 is more than 300 kilometers per hour. Therefore, the sixth speed increase will mainly adopt the first three main models, which won the bid in the tender of the Ministry of Railways. Siemens lost in the first round, and entered China high-speed locomotive manufacturing in the second round.

EMU is a decentralized EMU, a passenger train with its own power, which can travel in both directions. It has the advantages of advanced technology, safety and reliability, comfortable ride, mature economy and environmental protection, and the speed level is 200 to 250 km/h. EMU can run in short groups of 8 cars, and can also be easily reassembled into 16 car length groups. The varieties of EMU include first-class car, second-class car, dining car and combination car, with short marshalling capacity of more than 600 people and long marshalling capacity of more than 1200 people.

High-speed rail locomotives (locomotives) will adopt a streamlined "bullet" shape. When the train speed reaches more than 160 km, the air resistance will increase obviously. Therefore, the locomotives of Beijing-Shanghai high-speed railway will adopt bullet shapes that can reduce resistance. This shape is not only beautiful and smooth, but also can effectively reduce the "micro-pressure wave" when the train rushes into the tunnel.
