Thoughts on Reading "Research on Image Narration of Film and Television Plays"

This paper mainly expounds the author's research and discussion on the image narration of film and television dramas. In the first chapter, Narratology and Film Narration, the first part is the origin of narrative research. The author thinks that human narrative activities originated from drama, and human narrative ability is becoming more and more mature with the development of drama. It also expounds that an important theoretical achievement of western structuralist poetics in the middle and late 20th century is to promote the emergence of narratology. In the second part of Film Narrative, the author thinks that the narrative mode of film is the combination of narrative and demonstration, and the narrative mode of film has developed from single shot to montage narrative. Images show different meanings through different settings such as scene, depth of field, focus, distance, camera movement, position and angle. Two? In the second chapter "Narrative Theory of Film and Television", the author puts forward the viewpoint of studying the narrative structure of film, and studies it from the aspects of direction, narrative function, basic object, time sequence combination, etc., and thinks that the research on the narrative structure of film mainly focuses on narrative text, narrative works, images, sounds, structural forms of time and space and narrative laws. The author thinks that narrative movies turn the closed and linguistic study of film semiotics into an analysis of narrative time and space from the perspective of narrative structure, and at the same time study the intention of producers and how the audience interpret it. He believes that the theoretical research on film narrative still exists at this stage, and there is no further research on the relationship between film narrative and social and cultural context. The second part compares the similarities and differences in narrative between literary novels and film and television dramas. The difference between literary novels and film and television dramas is that literary novels are told, while film and television dramas are told or not told in a presentation way. The difference lies in presentation.

Through reading these chapters, I have a preliminary understanding of image narration, and understand the origin of image narration and its performance in film and television dramas, as well as the important significance and influence of constructing narrative film theory in film and television dramas. When reading this paper, I met many difficult professional names and technical terms, which made me realize my lack of knowledge. It also makes me feel that the theoretical system behind movies and TV plays has been established for hundreds of years. The images we see now, every shot, the combination between shots, the change of pictures, the construction and transmission of narrative space and so on. It was developed by previous photographers and professional scholars after repeated attempts, mistakes, corrections and improvements. Through reading this excellent paper, I feel the author's rich cultural knowledge accumulation and clear professional thinking.
