Journey to the west series of photographs

The 86th edition of Journey to the West is a classic. It was shot under very difficult conditions, and there was no difference between the leading role and the supporting role among the actors.

At that time, director Yang Jie led the group to travel to 26 provinces except Tibet, Qinghai, Ningxia, Hubei and Taiwan Province in order to find scenes that met the requirements of the group. During the filming, the main creative personnel were in distress many times.

Yang Jie once almost fell off a cliff. Four disciples almost slipped while filming the waterfall scene. Even Bai has encountered many dangers, such as the collapse of ditches.

The director and cameraman of Journey to the West are actually husband and wife. They have been filming together for six years. They have no time to take care of the girls at home 12 years old. Due to the lack of funds, security measures must be taken. When Wei Ya was hanged, actors often fell. Once, Yan (Friar Sand) weighed 170 kilograms and fell on Wang Zhongqiu's head. The photographer fainted on the spot.

Directors Yang Jie and Wang Chongqiu went to Hong Kong to study Guaweiya. 1982, when we first filmed Westbound, the crew lacked guidance. We don't know how to do stunts. Photographer Wang Chongqiu tried to make it realistic. He happened to meet a Hong Kong man who said he would hang someone in Weiya. But he is also an outsider who doesn't know the inside story, so the crew went to Hong Kong to learn how to hang Weiya, and finally succeeded.

It was dangerous to hang up at that time. Weiya's rope is often ground very finely, and it is still very dangerous. These four apprentices always enjoy hanging up the phone, especially the Monkey King and Pig Bajie. They won't hurt each other, but they will applaud. All four of them fell and got hurt.

There is no difference between actors and actresses. The main actors are treated like other actors. No assistant, no nanny, no preferential treatment. Once the filming is over, the staff will have to move several vehicles with equipment and tools at the same time. In the absence of dragon actors, make-up to save people should also be done with the crew.

Although the conditions were limited at that time, the scene of The Journey to the West in the 86th edition was no less than the remake of today's scene by Director Yang Jie with a refined attitude. The key is attitude, not just technology.
