Is TCM a science? What is the difference between traditional Chinese medicine and modern medicine?
Traditional Chinese medicine refers to traditional Chinese medicine, which is a subject that studies the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of human physiology, pathology and diseases. It bears the experience and theoretical knowledge of ancient Chinese people in fighting diseases, and is a medical theoretical system gradually formed and developed through long-term medical practice under the guidance of ancient naive materialism and spontaneous dialectical thinking. In the research method, it is based on similar holistic view, physiology and pathology of zang-fu organs and meridians, syndrome differentiation and treatment, with simple system theory, cybernetics, fractal theory and information theory.
Chinese medicine generally refers to the traditional medicine created by the working people of Han nationality in China, so it is also called Chinese medicine. Other traditional medicine in China, such as Tibetan medicine, Mongolian medicine and Miao medicine, is called ethnic medicine.
Based on the theory of yin-yang and five elements, Chinese medicine regards the human body as the unity of qi, form and spirit. By looking, smelling, asking, palpating and four diagnostic methods, it explores the cause, nature and location of the disease, analyzes the pathogenesis, changes of viscera, meridians, joints, qi, blood and body fluids, judges the rise and fall of evil, and then obtains the name of the disease, induces syndrome types and formulates the principle of syndrome differentiation and treatment. The positive aspect of TCM treatment lies in the hope that it can help restore the balance between yin and yang, and the negative aspect lies in the hope that life and quality of life can be taken into account when drugs must be used to slow down the deterioration of diseases. In addition, the ultimate goal of Chinese medicine is not only to cure diseases, but to help mankind reach the realm of four typical figures: real people, wise men, saints and sages proposed in Huangdi Neijing.
