Disadvantages of photographic long lens

First of all, high-quality long lenses are expensive.

Secondly, the long lens is often big and bulky, and you will have a personal experience when you carry it around all day.

Third, the longer the focal length of the lens, the more stable the camera must be to avoid blurring the image. The rule of thumb is that you can only shoot with a lens when the shutter speed is at least equal to the reciprocal of the lens focal length in millimeters. That is to say, when the shutter speed is lower than1100 seconds, you can't shoot with 100mm lens. When it is less than11500 seconds, you can't shoot with a 500mm lens. We'll talk about it next time. In order to ensure a clear image, we suggest setting a higher shutter speed. Our recommended setting is "twice" the focal length of the lens. In other words, when the shutter speed is less than 1/200 seconds, you can't hold 100mm seconds. Less than11000 seconds cannot be shot with a 500mm lens. Therefore, most telephoto lenses need to use tripods.

Fourth, no matter how perfect the optical system of the long lens is, when shooting distant objects, the image is always in an atmospheric environment full of dust, haze and thermal refraction. Only under very rare clear skies can a particularly clear telephoto image be obtained.

It is suggested that in this practice stage, you don't need to buy any lenses except those already equipped on the camera. When you become a master in the future, you can consider a lens with a longer focal length. Even so, unless there is a special demand for extra-long lenses and the funds are not a problem, we suggest not to consider any lens larger than 200 mm. If extra-long lenses are needed occasionally, we can consider adding telephoto lenses.
