The most commonly used angle for portrait shooting
No matter what kind of model you meet, there is no such thing as a perfect angle. Maybe everyone's expressive force is different. You think the best angle for one person is not so good for another, so try several angles on everyone to find out the best angle they can show.
Today, let's talk about the most commonly used angles when shooting portraits.
1, eye horizontal angle of view
Eyes are one of the most important focuses in portrait shooting. The eye level perspective here means that the camera and the model are eye level, so it should be adjusted according to whether the model is standing or sitting.
Apparent horizon perspective can also be divided into front and side.
The frontal portrait is suitable for most subjects, and it is also one of the most commonly used angles when we take portraits. Although it is commonly used, there may be some problems because it is too straight, such as making the five senses too flat and not three-dimensional. These problems may not be taken care of during the filming, but many serious problems will be found in the later stage after the filming is completed.
The side (or inclined side) is mainly used to highlight the five senses of the subject and make it look more stereoscopic. But there's another problem. If your subject's nose is straight and three-dimensional, it will obviously look better, but if the person's nose is flat, this shortcoming may be more prominent. This result is naturally what you don't want to see.
2. Low angle
Head-up perspective is one of the most common perspectives, but it is not the only one. Even sometimes, eye horizontal perspective may seem a bit too serious, which makes people feel a bit boring. You can try to switch to a low angle at this time.
Shooting at a low angle will make the subject look bigger than normal, especially when shooting with a wide-angle lens. This is because of the perspective. Because it is close to the legs, it will make the legs stand out more. Using a wide-angle lens will produce a feeling of deformation, while shooting with a standard lens will easily shoot long legs.
In addition, low-angle shooting has another advantage, which is to raise the background. When there are many messy elements in the background that affect the expression of the subject and even interfere with the picture, lowering the camera position and looking up can shoot a higher background and eliminate the interference elements in the background flush with people.
By the way, if you take a picture of the model jumping up, the effect will be higher if you put the camera close to the ground and take a low angle view.
3. High angle
If you want a person to look smaller than a normal person, shoot from a high angle. The feature of this shooting is that it can replace more ground background and focus on the model's face. But the disadvantage is that it will make the model look short.
4. Aerial view
This angle of view is not commonly used, and is generally used to shoot drones or stand on high places. The key point is to flatten the model and form a whole with the ground, which becomes a prominent focus in the plane ground background.
5. Cape Holland
Dutch Cape is also called oblique viewing angle, which is an oblique angle as the name implies. This angle is often used in film photography, which originated during World War I and was part of the expressionist movement in German film industry.
Shooting at this angle means that the camera rotates relative to the horizon or the vertical line in the lens. The main purpose of this angle is to make the audience feel uneasy or frustrated, which is why this angle is often used in horror movies. Even in movies, most of them? Angler's lens in Holland is also a still lens like a photo.
6, telephoto instead of environment
In movies, the extreme telephoto angle is often used as the opening of the movie or to replace the newly set scene, mainly to show the relationship between the whole scene and the subject, usually far away from the subject. This is mainly suitable for shooting some large scenes, such as in the landscape or the panoramic view of the building where the subject is located, or in order to show the relationship between the subject and the whole scene, the content in the scene replaces the environment where the subject is located and expresses the subject's emotions.
