How advanced is J-10C in China?

After the fire control system is integrated with active phased array radar, the J-10A/B project actively developed by China has the configuration of the next generation fighter, and all innovative schemes are now embodied in the modified J-10A.

Its appearance and "connotation" are so close to the level of the fifth generation fighter that China can't wait to compare its combat effectiveness with the American F-22A.

But what is the basis of this comparison? We can find out by our own observation.

The Russian military observation network published an article entitled "J-10C is a headache for western aircraft companies", saying that the J-10C multi-function fighter can easily be classified as 4 ++ generation, and a "+"can be added after the conformal bomb bay is installed, because it already belongs to the fifth generation. The very compact under-wing missile pylon also proves this point.

But can J-10C effectively fight against the fifth generation fighters and their transitional models in the West?

Some military experts in China believe that the combat exchange ratio between J-10C and F-22A can reach 3: 1 (J-10A is a negligible 50: 1).

So, why did you come to this conclusion?

If China fighters are also divided into five generations, it can be said that J-10C is the 4th generation fighter with the strongest stealth capability and the most modern in China. No wonder Russian experts turned it into the 4th++generation fighter, which is second only to China's 5th generation fighter J-20.

The reason why this happens is that the radar cross section (RCS) of J-10C is about 1.0 m2, which is basically a quasi-stealth fighter, and it is much lower than J-10A/B and even less than J-10A.

The stealth design of J-10C is very unique and different from the technology used before J-20. Its shell surface allows radar waves to enter the body. After the radar wave enters the human body, it is absorbed and consumed by the components in the machine and cannot be refracted back.

Although the RCS of J-10C is still much higher than that of F-22A, it makes J-10C have the ability to compete with F-22A, which is mainly due to its brand-new digital integrated avionics system and advanced active phased array radar, so it has the characteristics of long detection range and strong anti-jamming ability.

It can be said that compared with other models of J-10 series, the performance of J-10C has been greatly improved.

But the competition with F-22A mainly comes from airborne radar and air-to-air missile carried by J-10C. There is little information about the active phased array radar carried by J-10C, but it should be far superior to J-10B radar and technically belong to the same category as the airborne radar used by J -20.

Using this active phased array radar, J-10C can be guaranteed to have the ability to find F-22A at a distance of100km, and can guide airborne lightning-12C or lightning -2 1 air-to-air missiles to launch medium-range attacks.

Lightning-12C adopts active radar guidance head, with a range of 70km and a maximum maneuver overload of 38G. It can intercept any target within the maximum maneuvering overload 12G, and has the ability to attack the F-22A.

Thunderbolt -2 1 is a new type of over-the-horizon air-to-air missile in China, with the maximum range of 150km. Its ramjet engine can accelerate to Mach 4.5, which enables it to cope with the F-22A's provocation at high speed.

That is to say, if the F-22A encounters J-10C and does not keep fighting at the distance of 100 km, the stealth advantage of the F-22A will be lost, and J-10C will have the opportunity to shoot down the F-22A with its advanced air-to-air missile.

Of course, it also depends on the tactics adopted by J-10C. If we can make better use of our own advantages and meet the F-22A suddenly in the middle distance, it is the best reason to win the battle.

There is no doubt that J-10C has the opportunity to fight the F-22A in close combat by adopting correct tactics and making rational use of the huge advantages of the defensive side. Although this kind of opportunity will not be many, it is not completely absent. In this case, although the F-22A has excellent maneuverability, it is difficult to escape the pursuit of Thunderbolt -9C short-range air-to-air missile carried by J-10C.

This advanced missile adopts the traditional canard aerodynamic shape, and its multi-element infrared seeker adopts a new programmable digital processor. The adoption of digital technology improves the tracking and recognition ability of the target, and makes it have good ability to resist background interference and human interference. Moreover, it can deal with new infrared interference sources by changing software programs, and it also has a maneuverability of up to 40G, so Thunderbolt -9C has excellent omni-directional attack capability.

The helmet sight combined with J-10C will give the aircraft lethal attack capability. Therefore, Russian military experts judge that the speed, acceleration and maneuverability of J-10C can be comparable to that of F-35B/C, but it is much better than any carrier-based aircraft in active service in the United States, such as F/A- 18E/F carrier-based aircraft. It is also better than American F- 15E/F and F- 16C/D, and even more unique than some models under development, such as F- 15SE, so it is not surprising that it has the ability to fight against F-22A.

But overall, J-10C is still the fourth generation fighter, and there is a generation gap with F-22A, so it is difficult to achieve one-on-one competition. The war damage ratio of 3: 1 given by Russian military experts is already more than ten times that of J 10A fighter, and certainly higher than that of J-22A fighter.

If the Russian military experts are right, China will have J -20, J-10C and Su -35 fighters when dealing with American F-22A, F-35 and B-2A. Although the war damage ratio of the latter two fighters is single digits, it is enough to make the US military dare not care.

Especially under the unified command and guidance of the Air Police -500 early warning aircraft serving in China, China Air Force's J-20, J-10C and Su -35 fleets, which carry out defensive operations, will have the ability and opportunity to make F-22A, F-35 and B-2A stealth fighters come and go freely under the reasonable and correct tactical guidance, thus making China's sky defense more stable.
