The Establishment of Yan 'an Film Troupe

1938 August 18, Yuan Hehe founded Yan 'an Film Troupe.

1In August 1938, Yuan went to Hong Kong to buy a full set of 16mm photographic equipment and tens of thousands of meters of film, and mobilized photographers who had worked with him in Dentsu and Star before the war to come from Shanghai to work. Joris Evans, a Dutch film artist, was prevented from going to Yan 'an or other anti-Japanese base areas when he came to China to shoot a documentary. Evans met Yuan and decided to give Yuan the Emo camera and film he brought. Wu Yinxian, who just came to Wuhan from Shanghai, took a taxi to the appointed road and accepted the camera and film.

Evans before leaving Hankou, since he couldn't go to Yan 'an in person, he could give his camera to Comrade China and let them work in Yan 'an. In this way, with the help of Comrade Zhong, I decided to give my camera to Comrade Hua in a taxi at night. Late at night, I saw a taxi on a street in Hankou. I couldn't see this Comrade China clearly at that time. When I saw him, I quickly handed him the camera and whispered excitedly to him, "Yan 'an! Yan 'an! " The comrade nodded and left.

Yuan arrived in Yan 'an with film equipment and set up the Yan 'an Film Group under the Eighth Route Army General Political Department.
