For decades, he has been exploring how to apply China's traditional painting techniques to film photography, so that China's film photography art has a strong national style. In shooting, he successfully used the expression method of China's traditional painting, "Take its potential from a distance and its quality from a close look". When shooting a distant view, he pursues the imposing manner of the picture, rather than expressing the delicate and local expressions of the characters' faces; When shooting a character, highlight the subtle level and expression changes of the character and reveal the inner world of the character. He believes that all means of photography are to express the theme and portray the characters. He opposes redundant and implicit expressions. Before shooting a film, he always makes full preparations, has a well-thought-out plan and successfully completes the shooting work.
