What is laser iridotomy?

A: Pupillary block glaucoma, in which the drainage of aqueous humor from the posterior chamber to the anterior chamber is blocked (most commonly in angle-closure glaucoma), is an effective treatment for laser iridectomy. Argon laser or Nd: YAG laser can be selected to act on the peripheral iris to form an opening, so that aqueous humor can flow out smoothly. In angle-closure glaucoma, the obstruction of aqueous humor drainage can lead to acute attack of glaucoma, extremely high intraocular pressure, severe pain and visual loss. Laser iridectomy can effectively avoid the onset of acute or chronic angle-closure glaucoma.
