How to arrange lighting for portrait shooting

How to arrange the lighting for portrait shooting is as follows:

There are as many as three to five portraits in the studio, just in terms of lighting. Compared with outdoor photography in nature, outdoor photography has only one kind of light, and that is the sun. So how do you use so many lights in the studio?

When shooting portraits in the studio, we should also adhere to the principle of "the sun". This is the top priority of portrait photography in the studio. The lighting in the studio can be roughly divided into eight kinds of lighting. Main lamp, auxiliary lamp, outline lamp, decorative lamp, hairstyle lamp, background lamp, top lamp and bottom lamp. Among the eight lights, the main light is the "sun". The main light is the main light, which mainly plays the role of modeling.

1, main light.

The position of the main light layout is in the front light, which is about 45 degrees from the optical axis of the camera, that is, Rembrandt light. Of course, not all portraits are taken at 45 degrees. It depends on the angle of the subject.

There is a key point: the light ratio of portrait photography. Only the main light and the auxiliary light can produce light ratio. Light ratio is the key to the success of portrait photography. Generally, the light ratio of portrait photography is between 1: 2 and 1: 3, and the light ratio of portrait photography can reach about 1:5.

2. Auxiliary lights.

It is mainly to eliminate the shadow of the main light, control the light ratio of photography, make the photographic works have the effect of light and shadow, and shape the inner world of the characters through light and shadow.

3. Side lights.

It's a side backlight. It forms an angle of about 135 degrees with the optical axis of the camera, and mainly hits the back of the subject, so that the subject forms an outline and gives the subject a three-dimensional effect.

4. Modify the light.

Mainly in places where people need to be prominent. For example, necklaces, medals and other important ornaments worn by characters. Through the ornaments worn by the characters, the personality characteristics of the characters are highlighted.

5. The hairstyle is light.

As the name implies, it is the light that hits the hair of the character. Highlight the hair and separate the background.

6. Background light.

As the name implies, the light hits the background. Highlight the theme through the background. The main feature of background light is to form a sense of depth and space with the subject.

The above lights should cooperate with each other and master the relationship between them. Let each kind of light give full play to its strengths, do its best, and make the best use of it to shoot portraits with both form and spirit.
