Who built the Xiaohekou Great Wall?

Xiaohekou Great Wall was built in the 14th year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (in 1381), which runs through six natural villages in Xigou Village, Yonganbao Township, Suizhong.

Xiaohekou is one of the most important passes, which was invaded by Mongolian cavalry twice in history and sealed many historical stories.

The Xiaohekou Great Wall is about 8.9 kilometers long, with 31 enemy towers, 18 battle platforms and 14 beacon towers.

Liaodong Great Wall, Shanhaiguan Great Wall and Beijing Great Wall are gathered here in a T-shaped arrangement from three directions.

because it is located in the mountains, the mountains are dangerous and inaccessible, although it has not been repaired manually, it has remained intact so far.

Because it keeps a good original state, it is called "Wild Great Wall".

In recent years, people's understanding of the Xiaohekou Great Wall has been expanding, and people come to visit, take photos, explore secrets and sketch in an endless stream, forming a new hot spot to explore the Great Wall culture.

What is amazing is that the Xiaohekou Great Wall building is a style that is different from the mighty and cold style of Wan Li Great Wall. The arch frames of its doors and windows are carved with designs such as lion hydrangea, wooden horse orchids and auspicious clouds ribbons.

What's even more surprising is that there is a kind of pattern that twists and turns with complicated lines, like two lotus flowers intertwined. The local villagers call it "Twisted Lotus", which is a symbol of the love between husband and wife.

It is very rare for this kind of sculpture full of warmth and feminine beauty to be placed on the Great Wall full of pitfalls. Some experts named it "Great Wall for Women".

according to historical records, in the fifth year of Qin Long in Ming dynasty (ad 1571), Qi Jiguang, a famous soldier, was transferred to Liaoning, Hebei and Beijing to rectify the border affairs, and all the officers and men under his command were soldiers from Yiwu, Zhejiang, who had rendered meritorious service to the Japanese.

Because of the huge project and arduous guarding task, Qi Jiguang allowed some family members to join the army in order to stabilize the army.

It is the arrival of these dependents who make this section of the Great Wall have the characteristics of women when it is built.

Xiaohekou Great Wall is rich in historical remains, including well-preserved ancient Great Wall walls, enemy towers, battle platforms and beacon towers, moving legends about "General Building" and "Widow Building" that have been circulating for hundreds of years, and remains and relics that are closely related to the lives of soldiers guarding the border.

For example, the cliff temple, Jiulong Cave and patio on the west side of the awl mountain, the fertile fields opened by soldiers guarding the enemy building, used stone mines and stone cannons, etc.

At the same time, the vegetation on both sides of the Great Wall is lush and lush.

in early spring, wild apricot blossoms are as white as snow, in mid-spring azaleas are as red as the morning sun, in summer pheasants crow in the Woods, and in late autumn, red leaves are all over the mountains.

If you are lucky enough to visit Xiaohekou, the scenery will never be forgotten.

whenever the wind is sunny and the weather is clear, when you look up, the peaks are enthusiastic, the watchtowers stand tall, and the Great Wall twists and turns. How spectacular! When night falls, the bright moon is like a hook, the mountains are shaded by the sky, the Diao Dou is guarded, and the wind is whistling, which is another scene.

After a storm comes a clear day, Shan Lan is dense, the enemy towers are like dragons, and the Great Wall is like dragons leaping in a foggy sea, hidden in the Shan Lan, and a mysterious and elegant picture scroll unfolds ...

Most of the villages at the foot of the Great Wall in Xiaohekou were established by soldiers and their families in those years, with a history of 5 to 6 years.

for hundreds of years, they have thrived here and gradually formed unique folk customs.

In Xiaohekou Village, there are more than a dozen well-preserved ancient houses in Qing Dynasty, which provide us with real objects to understand history and local folk customs.

Many villagers in Xiaohekou and surrounding villages are descendants of soldiers from Yiwu, Zhejiang Province. They still maintain the fortitude, simplicity and strong character of their ancestors, and are warm and generous to others without selfishness.

When you come to Xiaohekou, you can not only appreciate the beautiful scenery created by history and endowed by nature, but also personally feel the local customs here and appreciate the feeling of life through historical time and space.
