Interpretation of the Battle of Bat Super: lex luthor

It has been more than a year since Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was released. Last week, Warner released a trailer for Justice League. With this excitement, I want to re-examine this word-of-mouth work.

I was directly hit in the face after reading it.

This time I watched the director's cut version, and the duration was 183 minutes. Compared with the version shown in the cinema, it takes half an hour more and the plot is smoother. The director's exposition of many issues has also deepened, and the plot of the cinema version makes people feel stupid, which makes it reasonable.

The most important thing is that I can stop and think about the plot at any time-some parts of the film are too informative, and I can't grasp the main points without 12 points. Especially Lex? Lu Se's part, which speaks very fast, has been quoted in circles; Where's Louise? As a reporter, Ryan neglected the whole dark line with a little carelessness.

Before the analysis, it should be noted that my interpretation of the film is only based on the film itself. I refer to Superman: Superman: The Body of Steel at most, and I don't have much textual research on comics. So if my understanding is different from that of comics ... shut up.

I'm going to analyze their motives and plans one by one and enter the following text.

That's right. The starting point of the movie is Lex? Lu Se, why? The whole story begins with him. He provoked the contradiction between Batman and Superman, and he also planned the climax of the war.

To sum up, Lex made three small moves to frame Superman.

1, at the beginning of the film, a civil war broke out in a country in Africa. Lois is a journalist covering the rebels. The plot of this paragraph is actually very complicated, involving five groups. On the one hand, Lois represents the news media, and she does not represent any stakeholders; On the one hand, CIA agents disguised as photographers interviewed the rebels, in fact, in order to locate the rebel generals, so once located, the CIA fired missiles to destroy the rebel headquarters; There are still differences within the CIA. Some people don't agree with the CIA's direct missile launch and want to save Louise from the rebels. On the other hand, Superman went to save Louise as soon as he found her in danger. Finally, their identities are even more mysterious. At first, the audience would think that they were the enemies of the rebels in the civil war, but they not only attacked the rebels, but also killed the civilians in the military camp. Finally, they ran away before Superman came. Obviously, they expect Superman to appear here-so whose side are they on? The only explanation is that they are lex's people.

Lex created an illusion through this incident. It seems that Superman killed a civilian by mistake while saving Louise. This incident has attracted the attention of the American government, which intends to hold a hearing to try Superman's crime.

At the hearing, Lex bought a witness who accused Superman of killing civilians in the military camp-at this time, the pot was actually deducted from Superman.

Superman in the big battle in metropolis, many innocent people were killed or injured, including an employee of Wayne Company, whose legs were amputated. He was full of resentment against Superman, so Lex found the employee, put him in a new wheelchair and arranged for him to attend Superman's hearing. Lex planted a bomb in a wheelchair and detonated it when Superman attended the hearing, which made people wonder whether Superman was involved in planning the explosion.

You see, although Lex didn't appear until half an hour after the feature film started, in fact, Lex was behind many events. He planted the seeds of doubt in people's hearts, making people feel that Superman is no longer the kindest person like God.

Similarly, Lex framed Batman.

When Batman interrogates criminals, he will leave a bat brand on them.

However, after being put into prison, the criminals who left the bat brand will be killed by other prisoners, and the prison guards will not stop them-anyone who is found guilty by Batman will be declared dead once he is branded with the bat.

Public dissatisfaction and fear of Batman also come from this. Batman's judgment on whether a person is guilty depends on his personal judgment. No court, no trial. As Clark said in the film, "He plays the role of judge, jury and executioner alone. Who gave him the power to decide the life and death of others? "

In this case, Lex's actions are intensifying Superman's dissatisfaction with Batman. He bribed prisoners and prison guards, killed those prisoners branded as bats in the prison and left the pot to Batman.

By cheating in the dark, Lex succeeded in intensifying the contradiction between Superman and Batman. But when these plots happened, Lex didn't appear directly in front of the camera, which led to Lex's plot hidden under the plot main line. If you don't see this dark line, the audience will think that Batman and Superman fought for no reason.

As for Lex's appearance, we can find his motivation to do all this in his speeches.

When Lex first appeared, he was selling his "alien threat theory" to members of parliament, and then asked kryptonite to be used in weapons research and development. What is interesting here is that Lex is a topic introduced by a story: his father grew up in East Germany and was ruled by a tyrant, and his life was very miserable.

Then Lex changed the subject and reminded the members of the power of Superman. Once superman wants to rule mankind, then mankind has no chance to resist. Fortunately, he found that kryptonite can weaken Superman's abilities. Finally, Lex made it clear that we should prevent this possibility, and I need a piece of kryptonite to make weapons, "so that we don't have to live by the monster's pity."

However, among the two members, the female member obviously did not buy it. The male senator was a little moved, and decided to help Lex enter the alien spaceship and give Lex zod's body to him for study.

Lex's second appearance was to meet the congresswoman alone. After all, Lex needs the permission of the congresswoman to get kryptonite. In this conversation, Lex mentioned his father again. According to my personal understanding, Lex should remind female parliamentarians about the story of tyrant rule. However, female parliamentarians still don't buy it.

And then what happened later. When the congresswoman gave Superman a hearing, the bomb exploded and the congresswoman died. People also have doubts about Superman, killing two birds with one stone.

Then Lex got kryptonite, entered the alien spacecraft, and got zod's body, and everything went well. He transformed zod's body and became the last big Boss destruction day in the movie.

Then there is the head-on confrontation between Lex and Superman.

Up to now, I've always wondered why Lex insisted on killing Superman. What is his motive? Is it really to prevent Superman from becoming a tyrant who rules mankind, as he said? Is he that noble?

Let's intercept Lex's lines and have a taste.

Lex made the remarks at a charity evening to raise money for the library. And he was very excited when he said this sentence, and his mood was almost out of control.

Although Lex is portrayed as neurotic in movies, I tend to think that his rambling appearance is made on purpose, such as suddenly raising the volume when talking, tapping the desktop with your hand intentionally or unintentionally, and stuffing a candy into someone's mouth. These are actually putting pressure on the other person to take the initiative in the conversation. But this is a public speech, and he doesn't need to shock the audience through neurotic performance, so his emotional fluctuation this time is an expression of his personal feelings. "Knowledge but no strength", this sentence is obviously himself. This probably shows Lex's desire for power, even a perverted pursuit.

This is Lex's last sentence to the congresswoman, which is intended to remind her of the power of superman. Although Superman can use his power to save people, he can also use this power to do bad things if Superman wants to. At the same time, combined with the above sentence, we can feel Lex's suspicion and even hatred for the great powers.

Lex told Superman that his father was actually an alcoholic. Lex was often abused by his father when he was a child. He expected a so-called God to save him, but he didn't wait for anything. So he came to the above conclusion that God is either omnipotent or hypocritical. Here, it explains where Lex's thirst for power and hatred come from. He had been tortured by that powerful force, so he hated it; But at the same time, he also longs for strength and becomes stronger. This desire will turn into abnormal control desire, and the desire that he can't get will turn into jealousy. Superman, as a representative of strength, naturally became Lex's number one enemy. Lex is jealous of Superman's power and wants to control it at the same time, so when Superman kneels before him, he will say with satisfaction, "Now God obeys me."

You see, even in superhero movies, decent and villains don't fight without saying a word. The contradiction between two people must first have a beginning, and then it will take a period of fermentation to brew the final outbreak. Battle of the Bats depicts Lex's hatred for Superman in a very delicate way. The stalk is deeply buried and needs to be torn to understand. It is through this analysis that I gradually understand why everyone says that Superman was born to be lex luthor's enemy, which is related to Lex's personality and Lex's fate written in his genes.

As for Jesse Eisenberg's explanation of lex luthor, I was actually surprised. Although the outside world is very dissatisfied with Jesse, he thinks that he is too neurotic to play Lex and makes Lex look like a clown. But in my opinion, Lex's nervousness has raised the popularity of qualified characters and made him stand out from many villains. Jesse's performance is also very hierarchical. We can clearly see which parts of Lex's nervousness are deliberately giving people pressure and which parts are expressions of true feelings. At the same time, Jesse's personality with social obstacles has also been exaggerated to the role, which also makes Lex's personality more obvious. It can be said that Jesse gave Lex the character soul. Therefore, the worst supporting actor of the Golden Raspberry Award will be awarded to Jesse, which is an insult to Jesse's acting skills and a disrespect for the whole movie.

Of course, the change of lex luthor's personality will also bring some bad effects. The main reason is that Lex becomes more like Batman's enemy than Superman's enemy. After all, Lex is too cunning for Superman, and Superman's power is too powerful for Lex. It is difficult to balance when the two meet. What should Superman's greatest enemy look like? I think he should be as honest as Superman, and at the same time, his ability is outstanding, but his pursuit is not in line with Superman's, so they will have conflicts when achieving their respective goals. Speaking of which, I found that this man is Batman.

There are still so many places worth discussing about the Bat Super War, so I will send a few more tweets to analyze them, and today's discussion about lex luthor is over.

I don't know how many people have successfully read it. Why don't you give a praise to prove that you have read it all?
