Beihu Lake, Suixian County, Shangqiu City, Henan Province

Suixian Beihu Lake is located in the north of Suixian County, Shangqiu City, Henan Province, also known as Beihu Lake, with a total water surface area of about 5,000 mu. From Weishan Lake in the east to Xi 'an in the west, it is the largest inland freshwater lake on the Longhai Line.

In the 15th year of Chongzhen in the Ming Dynasty (1642), Li Zicheng, the leader of the peasant uprising army at that time, and three armies of Luo Rucai and Yuan Shizhong conquered Suizhou at that time. Because they planned to build their capital in Kaifeng, they tore down the walls of Suizhou in order to weaken the towns around Kaifeng. Due to the flood of the Yellow River at that time, every flood would bring a lot of sediment, and over time, a topographic pattern of low in the city and high outside the city was formed. 1642 September, Li Zicheng attacked Kaifeng, replacing soldiers with water and opening the Yellow River. The Yellow River flows south, flooding Suizhou City and forming a lake, which is now Fengcheng Lake. Therefore, Fengcheng Lake is also known as "there is a city under water and a lake on the city".
