What are the commonly used basic composition methods?
Commonly used basic composition methods
1. Center composition method
Central composition means placing the subject in the center of the picture. The biggest advantage of this composition method is that the subject is prominent and clear, and the left and right balance of the picture is easy to achieve. This is especially effective for serious, solemn and decorative photography.
2. Horizontal line composition method
Horizontal line composition is the most basic composition method, with horizontal lines as the mainstay. Horizontal, stretched lines can express a sense of width, stability, and harmony, and are usually used on lakes, water surfaces, grasslands, etc.
3. Vertical line composition method
Vertical line composition means that the picture is dominated by vertical lines. Usually when using vertical lines to compose a picture, the subject itself conforms to the characteristics of vertical lines, such as trees. Vertical lines are symbolic symbols in people's minds and can fully demonstrate the height and depth of the scenery.
4. Three-thirds composition method
Also known as the tic-tac-toe composition method, it is a composition method often used in photography, design and other arts. In this method, the scene needs to be divided by two vertical lines and two horizontal lines, so that 4 intersection points can be obtained, and the focus of the picture can be placed on one of the 4 intersection points.
5. Symmetrical composition method
Symmetrical composition means making the scenery in the picture axially symmetrical or centrally symmetrical according to a certain axis or center of symmetry. Commonly used for shooting buildings, tunnels, etc. If it is not completely symmetrical in the early stage, it can be corrected and cropped in the later stage.
6. Diagonal composition method
Diagonal composition means that the subjects are arranged along the diagonal direction of the picture, aiming to express the feeling of movement, instability or vitality. Different from the conventional horizontal and vertical composition, the diagonal composition makes the picture more stretched and full for the viewer, and the visual experience is more intense.
7. Leading line composition method
Guiding line composition method uses lines to guide the viewer's eyes to the focus of the picture. A guiding line is not necessarily a specific line, but anything that is directional and continuous can be called a guiding line. In reality, roads, rivers, colors, shadows and even people’s gaze can be used as guide lines.
8. Frame composition method
Frame composition is a composition method that uses a frame to frame the key points of the picture. It will guide the viewer to pay attention to the scene in the frame and create the impression of entering the picture after crossing the door frame. Feel. Since the brightness of the frame is often darker than the brightness of the scene inside the frame, and the contrast between light and dark is large, attention should be paid to the overexposure of the scene in the frame and the underexposure of the frame.
9. Repeating composition method
Repeating composition method actually covers the whole picture. That is, when the subject is a group of the same things, the composition method is to photograph the group of subjects at the same time. Monotonously repeating a unified object that occupies the entire picture without any obvious clutter of other objects can also have the effect of highlighting the subject.
